Hi All

Can't work this out. I'm not wearing my Libre and hating not having all the data available to view!

Trying to bring my BG down after a weekend of something clearly going wrong and waking up at 15.9 this morning.

Not sure why my BG is staying bang on 10.8 even though I have corrected 1.5 hours ago ... ?

Confused<---- :clown:

Hi Em - are you coming down with something - I get this type of resistance when i'm coming down with a bug, or when i'm due my period.

I shouldn't worry too much unless it continues for a few days then I would suggest reviewing your ratios to increase your quick acting. ;)

Have you tried changing your insulin cartridges?

Also many type 1's find that when their bg levels are in double figures they become more insulin resistant, so it takes more QA insulin to bring bg levels back down to normal levels.

I concur with the other guys regarding what you should check. The other question is how much sausage did you have and what was the carb content? I tend to count any sausage that is not one I've bought as 9g of carbs due to being usually 5-6g of carbs per sausage and 5-6g of protein.

Thanls, I'll try changing my insulin this evening :)

It's a sausage from the work canteen. I've tried to ask them to check the carb content before but it all got too confusing for them :banghead:

They are really small, like half the size of a Walls sausage, so I thought 6g would be a good start.

Any sign of your Libre order Tim?

Fair enough. Ours are normal fat sausages, hence my estimate.

I would have thought that if you came down to 10.8 within 90 mins that was ok... That was a drop of 5!! You should aim to be at target level at 5 hours not 2 hours.

If you come down then its unlikely to be the insulin...

Wld change insulin...
Ah OK cool I didn't realise that. I always try to get it down fast. Thanks

If you are at target level 2hrs after correcting you are likely to crash before 5 hours...

If not back to target at 5 hours then you'll also know it could be cartridge or incase of pumps.. The pump or that when you are above 12.0 then your correction factor may need a little extra.. Then finally.. You may be coming down with something.

If I've ate something before going higher I can pretty much guarantee its a wrong carb/fat/protein guestimate..

Hope you are nearer target now!! X

7.9 now..... getting there :)

Depends on the individual - I've found that (thanks to the LIbre) with Novorapid it tends to become inactive after about 3.5 hours, so that's my target.

The bolus insulin lasts for about 4hrs so if you overcorrect to get levels to drop quickly, then its ok to eat a small amount of carb to get them to your target.

What youve now got to do is test bg a bit more to see when the bg starts to change and either increase the basal a bit or adjust the carb in the bolus ratio. Sometimes bg can go up or down depending on hormones, weather temp, bodyweight

If getting specific info from the work canteen is an issue I'd suggest using the 'carbs & cals' app for your phone (if you have one that is I suppose?) it has pictures of foods you can search and you pick the pic that best matches and they give what I've found to be a pretty accurate nutritional profile inc. carbs that can help you out? Think the app costs a quid or there about but worth every penny in my book :D

Hope that helps in the 'what I'm eating' regards - everyone else has given far better advice than I could on the insulin based side of things! :)
