Hi guys I havnt done the carbs course yet as I'm on insulin 4 times a day I was diagnosed may 2016 type 1 I have just been taking a set amount of insulin units every time but iv been told that I should be adjusting my insulin based on the carbs I eat can any1 give some info about this and explain how I am mentioned to calculate carbs to adjust insulin its all very very confusing for me so please explain simply for me lol thank u

I second both @catapillar 's suggestions. But don't start adjusting your insulin by yourself without checking with your team as it's still early days for, you.

If you're happier sticking to a set amount of units per meal for now, then try to eat a similar amount of carbs as that will keep your blood sugar more level. When you don't have diabetes, your own pancreas produces just the right amount of insulin to deal with what you're eating. With diabetes, we have to take, over that job - hence the carb counting.

You also need to know how much insulin to give yourself for each block of carbohydrates, I'm a bit old fashioned so do did mine in 10g lots to start with then you can adjust for smaller, larger amounts and later you can adjust differently for different type of food too.

Each of us is different and our reaction to the same food can differ too.

As above. But it won't do any harm just working out how many carbs you eat anyway treat it as an exercise ready for when you need to go down that route.
A copy of the book "Carbs and Cals" is very useful as it shows a wide variety of foods in different quantities via photographs stating the weight and carb values.
