Carbs & Sugar

My breakfast this morning was Nixe - Mackerel Fillets In Tomato Sauce the reading on myfitnesspal was 5 g Carbs & 5 g sugar not quite understanding the significance of this please advise. Thanks

@Viv0147 Looks like it has 5g of carbs, all of which is sugar. A little sugar is often added to tomato sauces, I've found.

I see labels on times saying 12 carbs 3 of which is sugar well the remaining 9 carbs I believe turn into sugar this is what I can't get my thick head around.

I know,it can be confusing but the easiest thing to do is ignore the sugar figure and just work on the total carbs because they become sugar anyway.
