Carnivore Corner

E6396621-EB88-4729-A6BF-BC7CC7F6FEA9.jpeg So this morning this happened...I’ve not been in this range since I was a super fit 19 year old in the army.

11 years of keto didn’t quite cut it but four months of carnivore did.

Oooooh. And it looks like not long to go until you have a leading 10. :)

Fab result. Well done!

Shucks, thanks all

How’s your weight breakthrough going @bulkbiker?

I’m not sure about the 10’s @DCUKMod I'm 5’10” and I can see my aorta and IVC pulsating already! I have to take into consideration the weight of a full head of ever growing dreads and the bit of extra skin that will stay now my menopause collagen is failing.

I’m going to get a full blood work up in another two months, I think I will probably have stabilised by then for accurate results.

One little interesting thing for me is that I can’t OMAD at the moment and I’m actually properly hungry but can’t eat much volume in one go AND (yeah, that’s two) I ate some cheese recently and got the most awful heartburn for years.

Onwards!

@bulkbiker @wiflib you’ve inspired me.

No veg but a few too many nut, high % chocolate, nut butter episodes creeping in for my liking, so August is officially Animal August! And August started early - yesterday ;)

Animal August is a great name.. I'll join you in that one.. I'm gonna try and reduce dairy too. Just have cream in coffee and nothing else.

That’s all I have, meat and a vastly reduced amount of cream in my coffee.
No eggs or dairy.

After my recent Arthritis Scare (thank you knees), I have clamped down again. Not that I was straying far, but we had been on hol and I had nibbled the odd bit of gluten, and gluten free carb treats (GF choc brownie of legendary deliciousness) and went out to dinner and had some of the heavenly beer battered onion rings with cumin... :cat:

Anyway, it has now been nearly 2 weeks of 100% carni + seasonings.
No choc. No coffee substitute. No nonsense. And my knees have improved back to how they were about 5 years ago.
This means I've also cut back hugely on cream intake, but am still having some, plus cheese and butter.

So obviously something was upsetting my joints quite significantly. I have known for a couple of years that gluten did - but now I need to investigate the other stuff too.

Bit depressing. I have always been someone who enjoys food's wonderful variety and complexity.

On the positive side, am drinking (and loving) more bone broth, but my current production levels are simply not enough. Either need to source huge quantities of bones, or buy some of the absurdly expensive broth concentrates. Am also a lot more knowledgeable about arthritis, causes, treatments, progression, etc. than before.

I'm down to 10ml per 400 ml mug (2 teaspoons) might try 1 tsp and see if that helps..

I’ve managed to get to 5mls now, most of my fluid intake is from coffee and I can honestly say I don’t taste or feel much of a difference. A tiny tub of cream occasionally goes off, a big change from buying 4 large pots at one time.

I'm sticking with cutting out the nuts, nut butter and chocolate. Will include dairy - although less cream - and eggs as I haven't encountered issues with any of those and would like to maintain as much variety as possible. It's the impossibility of moderating the "dessert like" stuff that's become an issue and it would seem that cutting it/them out completely is necessary, at least at the moment.

It is a bit depressing like Brunneria says, but I managed perfectly well without any of them for the first year of keto and rue the day I introduced them back in.

Will just have to focus on the more delicious animal based products - speaking of which, ox cheek is in the slow cooker and will be ready when I get home and I'm just polishing off some charcuterie from Real Food Rocks and vintage cheddar for lunch. Can't really be counted as suffering.

You need a second cauldron.

The 8ltr is coming again next month, and the baby 3ltr, they're hoping will launch tomorrow. Just sayin'.

Tonight, we have the most glorious roast beef for cold cuts. We love our butcher. :)

Had cheese (emptying the fridge) the past 2 nights. put back on 3 pounds in weight! just popped back over 200.. annoying!
Def no cheese for August!
