Hi to you all and a Happy New Year.
I posted about a year ago about the negative response I got from family and friends who made comments such as 'You've lost too much weight', 'Don't get any thinner', 'You don't look normal' and I have to say they got to me a bit. Nothing that stopped me following the path I was on but they did get under my skin a bit. As it happens I have now lost over three stone and controlled my diabetes without medicines and also been able to stop blood pressure medication . Much thanks goes to the low carb diet, stopping drinking and some very kind words from members on here. I am now bang in the middle of my ideal height/weight range, BMI normal and body fat percentage in normal/athletic range. Oh yes and forgot to say I am half way through qualifying as a personal trainer so as to begin to help others.
Maybe worth saying the shift that made the difference to me. As I said I did let some of the negatives get to me particularly when my wife said I had become 'obsessed' Somebody on here gave me the answer - Yes I am obsessed.....with keeping my feet, eyes etc. Back to my tale. I got just a bit fed up with negative people and blew up. The first being at my mother in law. You're too thin' she said......'Bit rich coming from somebody who's five or six stone overweight' said I. She hasn't mentioned it since. The best though was a guy in the village who just pointed at me and said 'you're skinny'.........'you're fat but I don't keep banging on about it'. I now get quite a peaceful life.
I am convinced at this distance that many people see somebody who as decided to do something positive as a threat and try and put them down in the hope that in doing so they will reverse the action only to make themselves feel better about their bloated condition.
The moral is 'don't carry the burden of other people's negativity'. You owe it to yourself to take action and control this condition before it controls you.
