I just ordered some.

Will be interested to hear how you get on with it, @Listlad

The chococo Ugandan chocolate buttons are nice! I reckon a few of those is quite a lot less volume of chocolate than a square of Lindt. The bag says handmade in Dorset, so I’m not sure if they have stores/cafes in other counties. But maybe they do mail order through the website www.chococo.co.uk

They also had some tempting looking bars of high cocoa chocolate but, at £6.50 a go, it was starting to feel like over indulgence!

I can't eat higher than 70 percent dark chocolate it makes me ill, i basically bring it back up and it causes me to be on the loo all night , so do enjoy 70 percent and it doesn't seem to spike my sugar either . I much prefer milk chocolate but its too high in carbs . Hate diabetes .

Wow, @Charis1213 - that sounds like a strong reaction to high cocoa. Glad to hear 70 percent suits you!

It’s quite expensive again. It’s more a present for Mrs Listlad.

Liking the look of that Nutella equivalent recipe, @Listlad :) Agreed, some of the cacao and products to buy ready made are a bit pricey - I guess there’s always the excuse of Easter, Christmas and birthdays!

Got that from @BibaBee in one of her posts. I think she has made it already. I will try it at the weekend.

@Listlad @BibaBee

I’ve just noticed the avocado oil ingredient in that gianduja recipe. It’s not something I’ve seen much in our shops. Is there another likely oil candidate to substitute with, do you think? I’m aware that in something chocolatey there could need to be a taste consideration as well as texture, so not too sure of an obvious choice.

Yeah, where do you get the avocado oil I wonder?

To my untrained and inept thinking, I might have used olive oil - but good question @BibaBee and @DianaMC :D

I wondered about that, too @Listlad Extra virgin olive oil, anyway - but it doEs tend to have a strong flavour - sometimes peppery, but have seen it described as fruity, too. Might be an interesting option!

Thanks @bulkbiker - that’s good to know. I’d seen avo oil in a health food store and was put off by the price tag (can’t recall exactly now but somewhere around £7-12. The supermarket offerings look more within reach!

That said, I’m wondering what else avocado oil is useful for... I’ve heard it’s good for antioxidant type properties. But is it one to cook with, or just pour on salads?

I badly need to go to Sainsbury’s. I have a bit of a shopping list including a courgette spiraliser.

@Listlad, they do seem to have some spiralizers in the Argos section of Sainsbury’s now:

https://www.argos.co.uk/search/spiralizer/

Those are the table top/worktop types. I haven’t seen many of the manual ones around (which take up less space) but they might have one in the kitchen aisle of stores, or in a specialist kitchen shop.

I read somewhere that it has the highest smoke point of any oil so should be the best for high temperature cooking..

I bought some ages ago but rarely used it as I tend these days to use butter or goose fat in cooking. Quite a few people use it for mayo to replace seed oils (avocado being a fruit like olives) and the oil doesn't have much of a taste so if olive is too strong avo could be better. It's also meant to be quite good for skin care too! Just be careful or you might cook yourself!

I also want to get some courgette spaghetti and some big bags of broccoli rice.

@Listlad @DianaMC I think I got it from a local health food shop, but you could use olive oil, which would be considerably cheaper. Probably not Extra Virgin at the flavour would be too strong. If you can get hold of it, hazelnut oil would work really well too.
