Hi All,

Just wondering about other people's experience with cinnamon? I've not yet trialled the impact on my BS so thought I'd ask.

Thank you

Poor grammar, bullying and drunks.
I have not specifically tested for it but Michael Moseley states that it is of benefit though the boffins are still working on the eact reasons.

Thanks Guzzler. I'm happy not knowing the reasons as long as it's relatively safe although always a case of trial and error!

Please don't discredit my cinnamon rolls! I love them strong and greasy! ;)

Honestly, for a Type1 it shouldn't change anything, while for a Type2 trials have shown that it can for some individuals impact the insulin sensitivity (resistance).

I add a pinch of ground cinnamon to my coffee, along with a tiny amount of salt - as I do not use any salt elsewhere. My results could not really be much better.

Cinnamon is a natural blood thinner, so this may be related to any possible impact on blood sugars.

I've always loved cinnamon and use it a lot in cooking and baking, but I've never seen it do anything for my glucose levels. But cinnamon overindulgence gives me really bad nose bleeds.:(

I'd definitely agree with @No2D regarding LCHF though - as this has helped me to reduce my levels from the well and truly diabetic to a low pre-diabetic/just on normal range.

Thanks @No2D and @Robbity. I'm T1 and just trying to tighten my control through reducing carbs and using the Libre to inform my decisions. I had a bit of cinnamon last night with yoghurt and no climb :)

FWIW I tossed a half teaspoon into my twice morning coffee with cream - for a month. Didn't notice any great lowering of sugar levels. It wasn't scientific as I had my normal range of breakfast/ brunch/ fasts which could have affected the results.
Also - I found cinnamon doesn't dissolve! I mean, it's wood isn't it? So I just chewed it up or swilled and swallowed...

That's one reason I like using it for cooking/baking - there's none of that yucky left over sludge to deal with...:p
