I started this morning with half a glass of diet Coke followed by two cups of tea with cream. Sometimes I wake up with a raging thirst so I'll drink Coke while I'm waiting for the kettle to boil.

After my 2 morning wake up coffee's - it is water for the most of the day [or I get headaches ]
Water helps flush my system and helps with the BG levels . :)

Anna .

Filter coffee with cream and sweetener as the first drink of the day, then usually tea for the rest of the day.

When I was diagnosed, I decided to try green tea and found that I really liked it. As someone who used to take 3-4 teaspoons of coffee per cup and 2-3 cups of coffee a day, I thought it was going to be really difficult to transition from coffee to green tea but in fact it wasn't too difficult at all. That said, I mistakenly believed that green tea had no caffeine in it but have now discovered that it does in fact have some although not as much as black tea or coffee. If you are concerned about the caffeine content, you can reduce it by either buying a decaf version or simply pre-dunking the bag for 30-45 seconds. What I tend to do is make a cup as normal in the morning to get the wee boost I need to help kick-start the day and then save the bag for another cup later on. I was very surprised to discover that the second cup tasted, if anything, slightly better than the first one: two for one - bonus!!

Sorry, I should have said that you throw the water out after the pre-dunk and then make as normal. This will remove approx. 80% of the caffeine.

oooooh all 3! milky tea at home green tea or black tea at work and coffee when i fancy a walk at work...or tiredness sets in!

decaff coffee reserved for when sugars are bein weird and high :-s

Hi all,

I have been an avid coffee drinker for years and up until recently, decided to give it up due to coffee playing absolute havoc raising my sugar levels :( I am loving my Twinnings tea now, around 4 a day with goats milk Mmm ;)

Cant stand tea, makes me feel sick. Live on coffee all day. Fresh pot every morning as at home, retired.

I drink about 10 mugs of fresh brew of coffee a day. Can even sleep at night. Guess if I paid more attention to 'scientific studies' I'd be awake all night!.

Blimey folks.... I think I must be totally losing the plot.

I am absolutely sure that I was clearly told by a senior doctor specialising in pancreatic problems that tea and coffee are bad for the pancreas.

I therefore thought that anyone who is anything like diabetic would avoid tea and coffee like the plague and so that's what I do as part of my self management.

Have I really completely misunderstood what I was told?
