My husband has got very cold lately, esp his hands . We thought this was maybe his thyroxine needing adjusted but its tested fine. Is this the diabetes bad is it a bad sign ?

last winter, after I was first diagnosed, I was cold all the time, especially my hands and feet, a problem I'd never had in my life before. Was a bit worried. This winter, hardly at all, no more than you'd expect in a very cold winter. I don't have any explanation for this, other than that during the intervening time I brought my blood sugar levels down to a very considerable degree. I can only assume this helped a lot. What are your husband's levels like? How does he treat his diabetes?

This has been mentioned a few times on the forum lately, and I can't remember if anyone had a answer. I feel the cold quite easily, more so than in previous years, can't really put my finger on why though, I just remember when I was a child and my parents would have the fire roaring away, and I would be sweating buckets wondering why they felt the cold so easy. That's why I put my own experience down to getting older, most folk start to feel colder with age.

Should this be causing your husband great distress, I would make a appointment to see his gp and discuss.

Ok thanks. It can't be diabetes then cos you would all have it :mrgreen: I have told him kindly he's just OLD. :twisted: It's causing me more distress than him because I'm knitting a mountain of alpaca socks & gloves !
 
Beta blockers can and usually do cause a reduced circulation to the extremities...if he is on any, that could be a cause.
 
Not on betablockers no. The heating is coal-fired, stove and radiators, its on 24/7, and its HOT. I just go and stand at the back door to cool down :mrgreen:

Another cold mortal here so if your house is HOT just let me know where you are and I'll be round! :lol: :lol:
