Constant pump failure at work

Hi guys,

So I am currently on the Omnipod and have been since February last year. I've not really had any problems with it at all, maybe the odd few times where my pump will break and do that continuous beep until I stop it and change my pump.

Anyway, I started working as a Ride Operator a few weeks ago meaning I am around a lot of machinery. The first week or two were fine, no problems with my pump. Recently, however, my pump has started to fail every single day. Whenever I go into a quiet place, I notice that my pumps beeping and I have to change it which is annoying when you're working for around 7 hours a day and I have no time to be away from my ride.

I'm yet to speak to the hospital about this issue and I'm really considering going back onto injections so it doesn't affect my work. Is it the rides and the machines that are constantly setting my pump off or is it just a coincidence? What could be interfering with my pump??

Would really appreciate useful and helpful comments.

Hi @Eireannn sorry to hear your problems.

Are you working in a theme park with roller coaster type rides ?, pumps are not supposed to be worn close to machinery that has large magnets or large electrical fields ?

There are 2 roller coasters within the park but my ride is just a balloon ride which goes round in a circle and then goes up into the air. I'm also close to the control box daily so maybe that's the cause? I'm very confused. Yesterday my pump was fine, no problems. It's whenever it's on my leg it seems to fail.

I will do, I am just very confused because whenever I go to a theme park with bigger rollercoasters, I never experience anything with my pump.

It does not sound like its the theme park causing the issue.

I expect that the moter or comtrol system on the ride is giving out a lot of powerful ramdom radio and magnetic noise and that the pump is getting confused. It is likely the equipment is not keeping to the EMS regulations but without specialist equipment you can't prove it.
