I do not have diabetes
The low-carb debate seems to bring out the worst in people. The aim of this forum is to help others and provide an inclusive, supportive environment for everyone. Wherever low-carb rears its head, personal attacks soon follow.

To try and contain this, I have adapted the low-carb diet forum. This forum is for people that low-carb. If you do not low-carb, please do not enter this forum.

http://www.diabetes.co.uk/diabetes-forum/viewforum.php?f=18

I have also created a second forum. This is called 'I do not low carb (Diet Alternatives)' - this forum is for people who do not low-carb. If you low-carb, please do not enter this forum with the aim of argument or debate. This is for the exchange of ideas amongst those who do not low-carb. I will personally moderate this forum.

Hopefully, this will go some way to addressing the issues on this forum, and we can return it to the original purpose. I am all ears to further suggestions, but please don't weigh in with your personal grievances against other members. In the past weeks I have been inundated with private messages of this nature - let's keep it friendly and constructive.

I am also aware of an alternative forum set-up by members who felt unwelcome here for a variety of reasons. I'd like to wish this forum the best of luck as it evolves. There is certainly room for alternatives, as demonstrated by diabetes-support previously. If you would like to visit this forum: http://diabetesforlife.freeforums.org/

Regards to you all,

Admin

Rude or ignorant people
Personally I think your too leniant with people who cause grief. Get tough, either they play by the rules or they go! That way there can be no misunderstandings. Zero tolerance, and thats not said tongue in cheek either.

Accepted, I did take exception to it. Now I know it was only a bity of banter I feel a little foolish so will just make an excuse and say its been a long week and I'm tired having just finished work today

Maybe I should have taken my own advice and sat back and thought before replying

People who are touchy.......feign indignation at the slightest thing. Hypocrites, bullies and cowards.
Sometimes, it does take a little while for things to sink in to peoples brains. Then again, some just can't seem to give up and behave properly towards each other.

The overriding ethos here should be to help and support each other. We are all Diabetics - not enemies. :?

There is a moderator.
This is Dan from the Admin. He is personally doing the job because of the previous problems.
The rest of us moderators are just trying to keep people from bickering and trying to get back to the ethos of the forum, helping people.

Hope that helps.
Ken.

I joined this forum at the start of the year, and must admit that I go and watch the grass grow when the low carb debate rears it ugly head. Just bores me silly.

I also reckon it would work great for me because I was the sort of person that put on weight easily before being dx with T1 innnnnnnnnnnnn zZZZZZZZ snore whistle.......

Hi all, hope admin doesn't mind me posting this (as it seems to fit in with the ethos of the board, that there's room for more online support groups ala diabetesforlife).

During November 2008 I started to develop a low carb diabetes support group. Having found this site I shelved the idea, assuming there wasn't the demand. However I feel it is becoming increasingly confusing for newly diagnosed diabetics who want to try low carb to find simple answers. So, due to the heated nature of the low carb debate, I am opening my forum to see whether there is a demand or not. It may take some pressure off this place so we can all meet here and get along. So the theory goes :D

Please be aware, this is not a political move, it's not a 'stance', just a place where people who want to find out about low carb can go and chat with other experienced low carbers. I don't want it to be a place for disgruntled posters to end up nor will it be used to rubbish any other approaches. If low carb is not for you then that's fine. I'm all in favour of healthy debate, but that's the key 'healthy' debate.

The forum is in it's infancy as it was rattled off over two days in November and hasn't been touched until a couple of days ago. If you are interested why not pop along to:

Low Carb Diabetes

Thanks
