Control iq issues on tandem t slim pump

Am totally fed up with this control iq and this pump. It seems that control is good for the first day after a set change but by the 2nd day control is all over the place. Control iq doesn't bring my blood sugar back in range until about 8 hours have passed. Woke up this morning at 6.20 and it has been high all night and was 16.5 there was 2.3 units on board so never suggested a correction. I ignored that and gave myself 2 units and now I'm still 12.5 surely by now I should be back in range.

Hi @steveo4 I find that my insulin resistance goes up significantly once my bg goes over 10 so I manually bolus extra. Unfortunately the algorithm doesn't account for different insulin resistance at different bgs so I don't see another option (if any tslim users know one please share). I've tried altering my insulin to bg ratio but that just makes me go hypo more easily and honestly I'd rather manually bolus when going too high than have loads of lows.

What kind of cannula are you using? I find my cannula give me at least 2 days, usually 3.

Would going onto a slightly higher background basal help? I find if my basal is too low I quite rapidly end up too high and that's when the algorithm doesn't work well for me.

And of course, most important, have you tried emailing your team or your pump rep for tips?

Control iq does not learn, so it’s totally reliant on how its settings are, so if the problems are consistent it suggests you need to adjust the profiles slightly

You also have the option if it’s only occasional to issue a manually correction dose

It sounds like either your ratios and correction factors are quite far off, or there was a physical problem preventing insulin from being delivered properly.

The way the Tandem T:Slim ought to work is that you can go to bed on a high reading and know that you'll wake up in range the next morning. It absolutely can do that if it's working normally.

As it's happening on the second day, check that there isn't an air bubble where you connect the cartridge to the tubing (or anywhere in the tubing).
