Hi all,

I got my first cortisone injection yesterday and I knew it can affect quite a bit bg levels and so it did.
Any experience how long time it will keep pushing bg to skyhighs?

I read it The peak elevation tends to occur anywhere from 5 to 84 hours after the injection and can get elevated bg up to 5 days.
What are your experiences?

needles, bloods sampling, infact most medical stuff which usually result in panic/anxienty attacks :(

hopefully your sugars will return to your normal soon :) careful if +13.9 for hours might want to check for keytones or check in with your DSN.

Hypos, rude people, ignorance and grey days.
Yes had around 3 steroid shots now and yes they do raise your BG levels, although a synthetic hormone it is another hormone to contend with which will cause insulin resistance hence the need to increase your insulin, I manage mine quite easily as using a pump but previously when on injections it was a pain to deal with and lasted a few days, but better than the pain caused prior to the injection.

Not being on holiday....
Hi
I have had injections in my shoulder recently and it had a big effect on my levels around 12 hours later and lasted a further 24 hours.
I took extra insulin and walked alot to bring my levels down.
Its was quite funny as i was out shopping and moving at the speed of a deer and nobody else was so i felt a little self conscious....

Good luck

Tony

Thanks for all the replies.
My bg levels went were high 4 days, first couple days were worst, insulin resistance was awful.
Unfortunately my knee pain came back after 6 days, not as bad as it was, so the shot helped to reduce the infection, at least, now knee looks like normal instead balloon. Now I'm back into usual cycling and walking, hopefully exercise helps.
