Hubby had appointment at the hospital. Inside the foyer was a stand called Diabetes Awareness. Lots of leaflets and such like and a raffle. There were two prizes both of them huge boxes of fruit, I saw pineapple, mango, papaya, oranges plus apples and pears and there were others. Not very aware were they.

We had a debate about this when a supermarket was promoting a diabetes awareness week with prizes of all sorts of unsuitable stuff.
In the hospital case I suppose it's not surprising since the NHS is still wedded to the old healthy eating plan which includes your five a day. Or is it 7? Or 10? Or is that Australia?

Apparently, according to my dietician, it's changing to 7 veg, 3 fruit!
However, it's still wrong for most blood glucose conditions or hormonal problems.

I think that's a good idea if you put them I cold storage covered in fungicide you could give them to the harvest festival :facepalm:

I saw something similar in same supermarket this week...there was a stand asking for book donations to raise money for diabetes UK. Unsurprising it was almost empty...because obviously no one takes their books shopping with them...but the few that were there were all recipe books...baking and home made desserts. I was tempted to take a picture for irony sake but the security guard looked at me funny so I left it

have to smile ....more information and training needed for the people who work with Diabetics ie meal planning :clown:
