Hi @Robinredbreast, are you familiar with the https://alama.org.uk/covid-19-medical-risk-assessment/ model - translates numerous risk factors into a proxy covid age to assess relative individual risk. Obviously this is just guidance, not hard rules, but maybe helpful for your purpose? Worth rechecking regularly as the site is constantly refining the methodology.lizzeb said: ↑
Hi,
I wonder if anyone can help. I work in a school teaching the reception class and obviously diabetic. I’m in school at the moment but need to have a risk assessment with regards to Coronavirus. Could anyone help as I’m trying to update the one my head sent me as hers is very generic and needs to be more specific for someone with diabetes. Thanks
My County council have not got anyone under 70 on their list, it's the clinically vulnerable group and anyone over 70 years, who have any concerns regarding continuing to work, can email the school escort/transport team.
@Kerry_p Take a look at https://alama.org.uk/covid-19-medical-risk-assessment/ - this will help put the additional risk due to your diabetes in context (differentiates between T1 and T2 and also good/poor control) as well as many other factors. Age is the overwhelming factor for a severe Covid infection.Back in February I had a meeting with my consultant, as my diabetes hasn’t been the best my HBA1C has been high. Back then I was told there was no need for me to shield as I wasn’t at risk, since then Iv worked through out within supported living and the hospital as a Healthcare Assistant, and Iv just start university in September but I’m still not at risk apparently!

Pragmatically, risk assessments for many aspects of most organisations' work are ongoing basic compliance exercises that have been in place for many years. Ideally they provide some real protection to both employers and workers, but they will only ever be blunt tools that need critical interpretation. The irony of those risk assessments being the more doughnuts you eat the more protection they might give you!!
Posted this on the Covid vaccine thread as I think it's a fair question....
"Some interesting debate here and everyone is entitled to an opinion. We may agree or disagree with others but I think that there is no doubt that we all share one common wish, and that is the end of the Covid pandemic if at all possible.
Obviously I can understand concerns and opinions about a vaccine but would just like to ask a genuine question as I am just interested. If for instance only a minority of the population would take a vaccine, for whatever personal reason, then what is the way out of this pandemic, how does it end? Do we wait 10 years for full long term vaccine trials? Do we carry on with long term restrictions? Do we let it run through society like we would a cold without any restrictions and see where we end up? Or do we hope that it just runs itself out and becomes less of a threat like I assume Spanish Flu did after three years?"
Almost everyone goes to the supermarket. Only a proportion of the population attend an education establishment. Supermarkets are all lumped in together whatever their type. Education has neatly been separated out. Add them together and it far exceeds supermarkets despite applying to a smaller proportion of the population. When you look at the source then they have also separated education by pupils and lower down the list teaching in them so these numbers don’t even include teachers.Supermarkets are the most common place in England to contract coronavirus, new data has indicated.
Public Health England (PHE) retraced the steps and analysed the contacts of the 128,808 people using the NHS Test and Trace app to find where transmission is more likely to happen.
All had tested positive for Covid-19 between November 9 and November 15, Sky News reports.
The second most common location reported by those who tested positive for Covid-19 were secondary schools, followed by primary schools, and then hospitals, and then care homes.
9,789 common locations were reported:
· Supermarket - 18.3%
· Secondary school - 12.7%
· Primary school - 10.1%
· Hospital - 3.6%
· Care home - 2.8%
· College - 2.4%
· Warehouse - 2.2%
· Nursery preschool - 1.8%
· Pub or bar - 1.6%
· Hospitality - 1.5%
· University - 1.4%
· Manufacture engineering - 1.4%
· Household fewer than five - 1.2%
· General practice - 1.1%
· Gym - 1.1%
· Restaurant or cafe - 1.0%

There are plenty of people who don't care about others, just their own rights.Interesting study/theory posted in the Covid Vaccination thread stating that asymptomatic infection is non existent!
If that's correct then that must mean infections are driven by people who therefore just don't give a ****?! After all if you know you have symptoms then you should be self isolating. If asymptomatic infection is non existent then it "should be" a very easy virus to contain if people did the right thing.
I can't find the thread. Can you link please?Interesting study/theory posted in the Covid Vaccination thread stating that asymptomatic infection is non existent!

Similar interest in the bcg. Can’t remember where but today I saw heat maps for where this jab is still used and mortality rates. Certainly interesting. I think it said in some places they were using it prophylacticallyVery interesting video from Dr. John. Well worth a watch. Fascinating study on possible correlation between MMR vaccine and less severity of Covid.

Oh my word, that's awful. So if you are over 60 and have diabetes you are to be written off. Shocking, disturbing and disgusting,This is not good news anywhere:
