Is there something that will help me overcome sweet cravings please.

Yes I had it then I go haywire my will power is not always good depression seems to make it worse.

Not having sweet things in the house helps, have something savoury instead, with time you will lose the taste for sweet things.

Its like giving up smoking - hell to start with, then after a week it gets easier, after a month it gets even easier. Under stress the cravings get stronger again, but they will pass.

Riding out the cravings, knowing thy will pass, is easier if there is nothing sweet in the house and you plan distractions for those time so you are not caught out.

I have some high % cocoa chocolate some times which is low in carbs also savory snacks as has been said can be of help. I live in a house hold of four and am the only diabetic so it is difficult for me to have a house free of sugary things.

Diet doctor site has some nice low carb recipes for snacks and low carb pudding type thingies.

Sugar free gum or mints?

Replacing sweet things containing sugar with sweet things containing sweeteners might help control your BG but isn't helping with a craving for sweet things and might even make it worse. If you have sugar in your tea for example, gradually cutting down the amount to zero is better than using sweeteners. One day you will find if you have tea with sugar by accident, it will taste disgustingly sweet.

Had strawberry's but finished them last night I was doing OK but with the heat it got me off path.
I think I will try lemon in warm water hope that will help.
Yes no sugar or fruit in the house only sweetener for tea and coffee cannot cope with no sweetener in tea kettle coffee.
Thank you for your replies xx

In that case I fear you will find those cravings are never really put to bed.. Try and wean yourself off them if at all possible otherwise you will always be hankering after sweet things which could lead to giving in.

I rely too n peppermint smints in the metal box. Not sure what I’d do without them!

I find that using erythritol and stevia as alternative sweeteners for baking or sweetening drinks, etc, work for me.

I no longer like the taste of real sugar at all, and the only rare occasions I've ever fancied it is if my body thinks it might have a (false!) hypo. It can definitely tell the difference... :wideyed:
