Many GPs seem to tell us we do not need to test but when you think about it logically how can you know how your body reacts to certain foods unless you test your bloods after eating ?

You can't. The GP's excuse is that you don't need to if you follow their advice. The pharmacist told me, yesterday, that that the local practice is cutting back on those things.

I was surprised to see a plasma monitor in the waiting room informing patients that the practice got charge £78 everytime a patient of theirs went to A&E and therefore that patients should consult the practice first. Sure sign that money is on their minds.

then wouldn't the be better off giving you some tets strips so you can manage your condition and avoid a hospital admission in the first place?

Or is that just me applying logic to a political problem?

I do think that they have lost sight of what they are about at our surgery. Patients are seen as interfering with the cost effective running of the practice.

This thread seems to be wandering away from cinnamon and apples but since someone else started it I feel justified in saying the following about strips and things.

At my last review with my DN she offered me Viagra. She said she had brought up the subject in case I was too embarrassed to do so. Next day I got a phone call from the dispenser to say I was getting no more strips.

So as a diabetic I can have Viagra but no test strips. The world is going mad.
