PS dogs can detect loads of things. My friend has Grand Mal epilepsy and several dogs. Some of whom have alerted her on occasion.

I've not been able to take the Daily Mail seriously since their "Hurrah for the Blackshirts" article. It certainly put me off of their racing tips. :shock:
 
Not a fan of the DM by any stretch of the imagination but at least they are bringing attention to the great work done by specialist hypo dogs, whilst it may stretch a few medical facts or terms it actually seems quite a good article to me. It least it doesnt say all diabetics are fat and lazy :thumbup: Well done the Daily Mail, on this occasion :D

Yeah, kudos to them for not blaming it on the immigrants either...
 
Marvelous what a dog can do and pleased it has improved her quality of life, the ''so severe'' comment is unnecessary as most type 1 on a basal/bolus routine are on 4/5 injections a day.
 
This would be more exciting if the dog could giver her an injection, or unwrap a sweet, or something. Smelling her isn't hard for a dog. :wink:
 
The dog aspect is pretty clever I must say, and I have tried this approach on my husband in order to possibly get a dog... but it has failed haha

A insulin adminstering dog would be even cooler! :lol:
 
One of my cats reacts when I'm too high or too low, unfortunately he doesn't tell until it's pretty obvious to myself. My theory is that he feels no need to share unless he feels my ability to feed him is impaired... :***:
 
Computer acting up a bit today so can't find it again but AOL news was saying something about a hear tdrug which has the side effect of "curing" racism,, I thik it was from an article in the Telegraph.
Has anyone read it? Perhaps the drug could be given away with the Sunday Issue of certain newspapers instead of cds , teabags or chocolate bars?

I've recently and reluctantly decided to give up on a friend of mine... He has a new girlfriend and they are both intellectual "witty" types (in their late 30s) but terribly narrow-minded. She argues some very racist points and he has gone from saying things that I took as "ironic jokes" to fully backing her vile arguments up. The pair of them are intelligent enough to know better! I won't tolerate people like that in my life, so sadly he is GONE and he can take her with him.

I live in a VERY multicultural area of Manchester and I can honestly say that I have enjoyed knowing people of all ethnicities and religions. My (Anglican) church is twinned with a nearby mosque. People should respect each-other and reserve their distaste for extremists of ALL persuasions. They are the real "baddies".

That's brilliant Glados, I wish more people had your moral fortitude. When I first started working, I stood by and listened to some colleagues making racist remarks, without saying anything. I swore to myself then that I'd never be a passive witness to racism (or homophobia) ever again. Now I'll openly confront people in the street if I hear them being abusive (although being 6ft2 and angry looking helps with that).

I'm very impressed.

Oh. My. Bernstein! Tut tut at your low-carbist rant there Borofergie! Don't judge every low-carber by the behaviour of a fundamentalist few! If I want to break Burgen with a group of low-carb friends and chew the fat about broccoli I WILL! It doesn't mean I'm "judging" those who are eating the wrong stuff and will die. Not all of us walk around with a Collins Gem Carb Counter strapped to our bodies either. I mean, I do... But as Bernstein is my witness, I rarely refer to it more that twenty times a day.
 
I was brough up in a very multi-cultural area too . I didn't realise unil much later in life how very fortunate I was in this respect.

Racism is born of ignorance and fear. My heart bleeds just thinking of those poor litle hobnobs, What a waste!
