Kk I was on my phone at the time

That is something that really annoys me about this web site not being able to change something like birthday date...mine is wrong or even having to state our birthday in the first place as that is just not relevant ...change our group name or leave the group without asking someone in admin to do it as there are no options to do it yourself. Surely it would save admin extra work if members could do these thing their self without having to ask them to do it. I do not belong to any other web site or group where you can't change your own details or cancel our membership if we choose to leave

I think it's probably for security reasons that you can't change your d.o.b. My son once had a Hotmail account which was hacked into and the hacker was able to change all his details, even the dob (!!! why I don't know, I mean it's not something that would really change is it?!!!) . When my son was trying to get back into the account he was refused several times because he didn't know the new dob. Crazy.

If it is about security then the less personal information we put on here or any other group the better I still fail to see why giving our birthday date when we join is in any way relevant to the group that is a personal detail which should not be required but be our choice to give it or not. Lets face it anyone can join this group and we don't know if they are hackers or not they could seem like perfectly genuine people with diabetes until something happens so we should be keeping personal information about our selves to a minimum on any group. I am amazed sometimes as just what personal details some people put on their profiles on groups and social media, where they live, where they work and their phone numbers etc all personal stuff that can be picked up and used by hackers

I am like the queen.
Many years ago I adopted an "official birthday" which is my internet birthday which goes with my other internet credentials.
Somewhat amusingly because I also made a few good internet friends I now also receive "official birthday" cards and happy birthday wishes twice a year.
makes me giggle every time !
I may do a third one at some stage :)

The two purposes I see for having our birthday down in our account information is-for protection for children-I have exchanged posts with a few children here and it is good to know that their age matches their maturity and understanding level. Also it helps direct the conversation in some cases. And the second reason is so we can get those birthday acknowledgements!

Exactly we can give any birth date we like on web sites and it does not have to be our true one mine is wrong on here which was a mistake but I will leave it at that as I object to being asked for a birth date anyway
