The desmond course I went to gave u a booklet with a depression "quiz" . I scored 37 out of 40 and it recommended I discuss this with my diabetes practitioner . She said " oh well we all get depressed from time to time" I wondered what the purpose of the quiz is ... How much more depressed should I be before I don't get patronised .

Hi Avrile,

How did you restrain yourself from smacking her in the mouth??????

I suggest you go see the doc about feeling depressed as they are qualified to deal with it. I wish you all the best with getting help sooner rather than later but being on this forum is a good step in the right direction.

Hugs,

Dee

i got my GP to refer me to mental health for depression. They got me to fill in the questionnaire read it then the kn0bhead changed my answers and said "You're not really depressed!"
Luckily I sourced help elsewhere.

thanks guys . im that fed up with the nhs. if only that was my only gripe. the same nurse examined a cyst type of thing on the ball of my foot. She declared it to be an "internal corn". No I have never heard of it either. I asked for a referral to chiropodist and she said no - waiting list is over a year ! best go private . So £35 and several weeks later the podiatrist looks at it and says it needs to be seen by a surgeon. So back I go to the doctor and on a waiting list to see musculoskeletal team . what a waste of time.

Avrile,

am so sorry you are having such a bad time with the nhs right now. I really hope things improve for you, the first thing I would do is stop seeing the nurse and just see the doc from now on especially as she gave bad advice and cost you time and money.

Wish I could give you a hug to make everything better.

Dee

Some GP's (mine) have self referral forms for podiatrists in reception. I filled out form with details.. Sent it off and got my appts...

It may be worth mentioning that as a diabetic you are meant to have regular feet checks (sensory), and as a Practitioner in Diabetes they are not specialised in footcare management, only to test for sensory reactions. Then ask to see a nhs podiatrist stating...."who is specialised in looking after diabetic feet and can give proper advice on footcare, etc to stop any further horrible developments from occurring..."

Well thanks all but I've given up with them. I'm in terrible pain with anterolithesis as well and all there done is put me on a 20 week waiting list to see a physio. So off I go to a chiropractor to get some proper advice . £36 a treatment 3 x a week for. Min of 12 weeks he says , saw me coming I think . But I'm so desperate for pain relief . Docs trying me on naproxen and asking muskoloskeletal to have a look at the X-rays I paid for privately . Good advice about the podiatrist , thanks I'll know next time .

I thought Desmond copped off with Dafne and were pushing for suspension on full pay so they could frolic together at the tax payers expense.

Or maybe they became MPs?
