Just got my results on line from my blood test taken on Friday. Despite a chest infection, an operation and a steroid injection just before Xmas, which all contributed to raised blood sugars, my HbA1c is 35!
I believe my cholesterol results are better too, even though the total is the same. Can you cholesterol knowledgeable people confirm this so I can continue the anti-statin battle with my GP this Friday please?

Well done, brilliant news! I am so pleased for you. Imagine what it may have been without the problems. :) Every bit of it very well deserved.

Your cholesterol has improved. The LDL and trigs are down, and the HDL is up. Only by small amounts, but nonetheless going in the right direction. Well done! Just smile and say no thank you if the great statin debate continues.

Good work, a really fine result after all you've been through. :)
Not too knowledgeable about Cholesterol, just know I've got lots of everything... and not too worried about it.

Well done, Rachox. You Rock This!

Thank you! That’s what I thought about the cholesterol numbers. My GP only tends to look at the total so I might need to educate him about good and bad cholesterol! :joyful:

Even NICE no longer recommend looking only at the total, in fact they haven't for some time. They recognise it is meaningless taken on its own. (If the HDL goes up the total will go up, so what good is it?) They are now supposed to look at the non-HDL (Total minus HDL) and this should be under 4. You are marginally over this, but not enough to cause even a blink.

Oh yes, my non HDL is listed as a separate number and as you say at 4.2 it is a little high but it’s down from 4.6. So long as things are improving I think I can stall the statin convo again! Once again thank you!

If the worst comes to the worst and he bullies you into statins, there is no reason why you actually have to take them!

Great results, anyone would think the lab computer had been reading research papers on how lipid respond to low carb..... To increase HDL more you could try coconut oil or tinned coconut milk in carries. (Check the carbs, as some coconut milk is not low carb, and avoid the low-fat versions, as it just has added water.)

Whats your ALT and AST levels like?

ALT and AST are liver function aren’t they? They weren’t done this time. I think they’ll be done in May

Well done @Rachox im really hoping my lipids show improvements next time. I’ve just taken paperwork in to register for access to online results so I should be set up before have bloods done next month. It looks really great to be able to see your results online so you can prepare for statins discussions!
I’m amazed at how well you’ve stuck at it all despite having other medical issues which affected your mob8lity and bgs you are a star and an inspiration to others congratulations

Given how cheap these tests are these days ("lab door prices"), personly I question why a GP would not do them each time they have the cost of taking blood.

Thank you for your kind words!
I do appreciate being able to see my results on line, it really helps to digest the results before my GP appt so that I can discuss it properly and not just appear as one of those stubborn patients who are refusing things, namely Statins!
