Having had diabetes type 2 about 10 years I've always managed to keep it under control. But back in March I had a heart problem and diagnosed to have AF which took 3 months or so to get under control with different medications. Since then my sugar levels have gone up and up and my weight has gone down 1 1/2 stone.Has anyone else had this problem and is it possibily to do with all the medication I'm taking.

Hi. Rising sugar levels whilst reducing weight (without trying) can indicate Late onset T1 and not T2. Yes, your medication could be the cause as well. If you are not overweight and still losing weight without a starvation diet I would ask the GP for the tests for T1. Either way, ensure the carbs in the diet are kept down.

I had a bout of AF which was constant for about 4 months during 2014, and now occasionally I get on and off bouts of it.
I was taken off various medications at the time, and the Dr's spent a few months playing around with my medications before it was diagnosed with Lone AF, with no known cause.
I'm pretty certain though that it's related to metformin as that's been the one constant drug I've been on. I think that at the time it was interacting with something else, and now just causes flutters.
