Diabetes at Christmas

Thanks, but not for me. That seems to be based on low-calorie, low-fat eating. The NHS advice is like, "I'm afraid you have to jump off this cliff, but try not to hit the ground too hard."
However ... as has been pointed out on this forum, any advice on generally healthy eating and sensible behaviour may help the newly-diagnosed diabetic on to the right path ... eventually.
@Sugarmonster, have a browse through the topics on here and see what's being discussed about Christmas food. You'll find many shades of opinion but it all comes down to personal preference. Hope you have a peaceful time.

@Sugarmonster I find it odd that you have posted twice and both posts send you to the same site! Hope your commission covers the advertising bill :)

@CarbsRok lol i didn't even realise! It's just one of the sites i subscribe to and i found these 2 article interesting! I will try to share stuff from other places too! lmao!!

Hi. The sites may be interesting but sadly the Diabetes UK advice is as usual pretty stupid. One day DUK may actually have some understanding of diabetes but I'm not holding my breath. As diabetics we need to worry about carbs and not calories or fats. Having exercise is, of course, very sensible.

If someone is following 'orthodox' diabetic dietary advice, that's not a bad article.

I wonder what chestnut and pumpkin soup tastes like...?

Couldn't see any recipe links, or mention of carb content, or how big the portions should be.
And perhaps I should mention that my choc mousse recipe has a heck of a lot more 'calories' than a mince pie or two... But that doesn't really tell you much except that I have a fab mousse recipe.

Sorry @Sugarmonster , you probably posted this with the best will in the world, it's just that the lack of carb info in the article is astonishing, considering it comes from a supposed authority on diabetes.

Tips, enjoy the day and make sure you get in some good walks to lower those all important bg levels :)

I did follow the link back to the DUK website and looked at their Christmas stuff and the suggested meal alternatives. They do list the carbs and to be fair most of it was sensible but their dessert substitute (dried fruit) had more carbs but less fat than the traditional Xmas pudding; so carbs are OK then :)

Thanks - I should have followed the breadcrumb trail :) further.

I'm gonna have a really carb filled Christmas, roasties, gravy, Yorkshire pud, Christmas pud & custard followed a best bitter., mince pies and sweets galore. I know this cos I dreamt it last night!
