Diabell I agree with you that there is lots of advice here, but unfortunately none of it expert advice
I dont have an issue with this site as it is providing a valuable service in helping us help ourselves.
Mike read it again.....are there qualified experts giving advice here? No it's patients telling patients....Another set of confusing comments .......
It's not expert advice but it's valuable advice? So which one is it?
Please don't do that you will have to change your accentWell, I have to confess here I thought this forum was an offshoot of Diabetes UK. The penny's only just dropped that one is .co and the other is .org. No wonder I've been getting confused trying to reconcile one with the other.
I really should change my avatar to Winnie the Pooh, except we've got at least one similar already.

Is it a valuable service....judging by the comments yes it is (note the exact wording service vs advice) I myself feel it's good to exchange information with other patients.....
Wouldn't it be great if there were some academics here that could step in and say things like....well studies have shown that if u do this then that or the danger is bla bla bla, but as this ain't a charity it will never happen so we will continue to help each other tap in the dark.
I hear you Nosher and I dont have problem with the site per-se but I am just putting it out there that as the premier site for diabetics in the UK what do they do for patients? Do they campaign for us? Do they plan meetings seminars? Do they sponsor research ??? How about exercise programs for all the 3mil diabetics in the UK??? Or patient seminars? Or do they simply make money on the back of our illness?

@nosher8355 Thanks for the tag - just what I needed on an otherwise miserable day. Things are looking better now
I had that thought in the middle of the night but thanks to @tim2000s and @Mike D for articulating it.I'd have to agree with @miked. The majority of professionals are not experts in living with diabetes as a daily lifestyle. Those of us on here who have had diabetes long-term are. Some may be more expert at various aspects than others, but in giving advice on living with the condition, you couldn't ask for more experts.
Professionals can tell you about the treatments, techniques, etc, but the experts, us, can tell you about putting them in to practice and the realities of using them.
Which is more valuable?
GOOD stuff Nosher
Loved it !!!! Mike
