Diabetes Complication

No one could really say to be honest....

And thats because everyone's body is different.....one diabetic could run at 8.0% HbA1c for 25 years and nothing, where as another could run between 6 and 7% for three years and get retinopathy.....

They do say that background retinopathy is normal for long term diabetics, which I suppose is what, 10 years maybe.....

So, there's no answer.....all there is a day to day control, thats how you should look at it....

As above, that varies. Just as some people can eat whatever they want and not get type 2 diabetes, some people eat well and still get it.

Its best to manage diabetes as best you can to minimize complications, rather than worrying about how quickly you will get them by bad control.

After how long of uncontrolled diabetes will diabetes complications start
And besides not being able to put a time on there, what complications? There's so many! Thrush is one that cropped up well before I was ever diagnosed, so that went fast. Puss-oozing wounds that never healed? Had those too, and those probably started when I was still prediabetic.

All in all... Just get control as soon as you can. It's worth it.

For type 2, the issue with complications is that prior to diagnosis insulin/glucose would have been elevated for 15 years so complications could arise relatively quickly e.g 0-5 years post diagnosis.
Not sure why you are asking though?

I am kind of worried for my health. Just delivered a baby in April. I usually eat brown rice and sometimes the sugar is controlled and sometimes it’s not. Not on any medications currently as I am breastfeeding. Want to try inntermediate fasting but as of cannot .
