Selfish people, arseholes who think they know it all, ignoramuses, chavs and people with no manners. People who play music on the bus or train full blast on their phones.
Hi, does anyone of any locations between Wolverhampton and Brum that do evening support groups, even lunchtime would be possible. I've seen a couple in Wolves, but it's just the diabetic care team who dole out their advice, rather than Type 1 veterans/newbies. I'd like to partcipe and give assistance and broaden my own knowledge.
Thanks in advance (should anyon know of course ;) )

Mart

Thanks Doug, are there any in Birmingham or Wolverhampton at all, as these would make for a long old day after work :) I live in Wolves and work in Brum. Sorry to be a pain!
Mart

Hi Mart

There is no group listed for Wolverhampton. You can email the DUK careline at [email protected] or ring them on: 0845 120 2960. They should be able to let you know what is available other than the Sandwell and Dudley groups, or whether anyone is interested UN setting up a Wolverhampton group.

Regards

Doug (Ex Tipton)

Cheers Doug. Surprised there's nothing in Englands second city, astonished in fact. If there was one in brum, I could stay late and get a meal before leaving. Sandwell is half-way home, but I don't know the area and I travel by train, so it'd take ages as I have an hourly service from brum to bilbrook (just outside wolves) and the train doesn't stop at s + d, unfortunately. Last question (I promise) is there anywhere is south staffs at all or walsall? I could get the bus back then afterwards. South staffs like codsall or something would be great. I'll have a proper look later when I can get online, as I'm just looking on my BB now, which isn't brilliant tbh.
Thanks again
Mart.

You can't win them all!! You could try ringing Diabetes UK for the up-to-date situation.

Doug, I've been a bit of a pain in the ass about this and it's my OWN frustration, as these groups are vital. I've expressed my eagerness to if not run a group that I'd like to partner up with someone to help support and help get a group up and running. I'd need to attend a few sessions first and foremost to get a flavour for the content and how they are run and the format, etc. I am keen to champion the power these groups provide as an enabling tool to newcomers and those afraid to ask the professionals all the time, for whatever reason. I've only been diagnosed type 1 for just over 3 years, but what I have learned has been mostly down to my dilligent research and inquisitive nature.
You've been patient and very helpful to me and I thank you for that. I've contactes the link you sent me, so we'll have to wait and see what they have to say. All the best and thanks a lot for your help, squire. I'll no doubt be in touch soon (what do you mean, "oh god nooooo!!!" ??? ;). ) Thanks mate, you've been brill.
Mart.

No probs, Mart. I hope you get something going in Wolverhampton eventually - or in Brum. Keep in touch, mate and anything I can help with, just shout.

Doug

Fear not, you'll be first to hear. Are you still in sandwell and dudley area?

Mart.

Sorry, just seen you're in Barnet these days. Lol. It's getting late. G'night, Doug, g'night Jim Bob!
