Diabetes/Thyroid connection?

I only have half a thyroid, the other half was surgically removed over 20 years ago. I've never been prescribed meds, although I was told I may need them. It seems the half I was left did step up and take over production. However I havent had any tests for a long time now.
My first prediabetic test was 6 years after the surgery ( but no one ever told me about it)
I do wonder if the diabetes and thyroid are linked, both hormone related after all

I had an usually type of hyperthyroidism about 15 years ago, I was making to much T4, but converting the correct amount into T3, symptoms, very swollen feet, was functioning on about 4 hours sleep, and a resting pulse of around 100 bpm. My Dad had Graves disease in his early 30's, my Mum thyroid cancer, treated with a total thyroidectomy and radiotherapy. I still run on the high side of "normal" but the only real day to day effect is I run hot, so save money on my heating bills! Whether my T2 is linked to the thyroid issues I don't know, but we can only deal with the things mother nature in her wisdom throws at us

I think it may be a bit of both, because they are both malfunctions of the endocrine system.
Interesting article here (well, the first half is, my eyes started to glaze over half way through and I skipped to the conclusion)

As a T1 I'm at high risk, apparently, which is probably why I see a thyroid test on my annual diabetic review quite often.
I noticed a thyroid test on my Annual review this year, haven't seen one before, fortunately it was OK
