My husband has just recently been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes he is 47.
He went to the doctors having been ill for a few weeks his levels were 27 plus after 6 weeks his readings are now 6.6 7's and 8's he is on 18 units of insulin which he injects before bed and takes 4 units every meal time to help with carbs. The last couple of weeks he has been acting like he is drunk after he finishes work he isn't because we work together so I'm thinking its his levels and they are too low but when we do the reading before tea its fine he then sleeps at 7pm wakes at 10pm takes his insulin then goes to bed until the morning. He has done really well to get his levels down i think he needs to eat more carbs he is a big guy and now has 3 small meals a day and has fatigue what should we do to get him feeling healthy its so upsetting seeing him in this state slurring his words no energy feeling tiered at about 5/6pm every night. Feeling worried - Sorry long boring text appreciate comments and experiences thanks
