Today I went to see diabetic nurse to discuss my results after two months of trying to keep control with diet instead of them putting me on insulin.
2 months ago my reading was 114. Now it’s 62. Which I’ve shared with you guys and I’m super chuffed at the figures.
But today, I feel deflated coming out of the drs. She didn’t appear to be impressed by my results. She said I should eat more carbs. Should not be doing LCHF diet.
Said at the moment she won’t put me on insulin. As I still have to reach my goal of 58. She doesn’t believe diabetics should do any fasting regimes. Told me she wants to see me in 3 months.
It makes me not want to go back to them.
I want to say Thankyou to everyone who has given me help and advice on here. Without your support and insight I’d be on insulin now.️
If you are on gliclazide is it too dangerous to fast?
Keep a firm eye on your blood sugar levels and if you start to go too low then eat something..
Otherwise discuss reducing the dose or coming off it all together if you start seeing lower end numbers.. (sub 5 mmol/l maybe)

Today it felt like she was saying that it was only because I’m now on gliclazide that my numbers have gone down!!
I asked about fasting as I have always struggled since I was a child to eat 3 meals a day. She told me it was far too dangerous for a diabetic to fast and especially if you are taking gliclazide.
I really don’t understand why “professionals” that specialise in “diabetes” are so out of date with what actually works. And have results staring them in the face.
Thankyou again to everyone on here for your support as I tread water frantically trying to make sense of this world.️
Deflated? Don't be. THEY don't know what they're on about, and what you're doing is working. You're on the right track to being well, celebrate!
