Had my diabetic review this after noon mixed results.

HbA1c is 39 yes that's 39 mmol/mol some what over the moon with that. :):)

Cholesterol not too great
Serum cholesterol 5 mmol/l high end of normal?
Triglyserides 2.52 mmol/l
hDL 1.1
Ldl 2.8

BP 110/75

2nd stage Kidney damage eGFR 63 bit disappointing but not so bad

DN very pleased in fact a bit gob smacked but she thinks low carb is the way forward she also remarked on my weight loss .

Edit to add what success and progress I have made is in no small way down to the help support and good advice given by the fantastic people on this site I love you all.

Pick on the positives, fix one oroab at a time, and very well done. I'm in for blood test Monday, lend me your DN

Well done @JohnEGreen on your HbA1c result. My suggestion on your cholesterol would be to look carefully at your fats and try and increase the good ones, things like avocados.
Can anything be done about your kidney damage? Sorry don't know anything about that.

@Hiitsme Thanks for the well done and the advice will look in to adjusting fats and hope to bring the cholesterol under control that way.. As for the Kidney damage well I'd rather of had non but stage 2 is not so terrible as it is not considered chronic so may be able to reverse it that of course depends on what the actual cause was.

Over all was quite pleased with result as was DN. will be seeing doctor soon to discuss the bad points. Thing is am on Metformin which is contraindicated for those with kidney problems.

Wooooo. That A1C and BP are simply terrific:)

I have my second A1C in about 4 weeks, must book it with the doc. If I can get it down to the 42-48 range I'll be pleased any lower and I will be jumping a 5 bar gate:)

Congratulations!!

Well done on getting into non-diabetic range HbA1c range @JohnEGreen!:) I think it should be easier to lower your cholesterol levels by tweaking the fat consumption a bit, it's not that high.

Fab BS results - you must be over the moon with them.
As for the other things ... sort them out if you can, one thing at a time

Well done though on those results ....

Thank you all but I'm not kidding my self I know if I don't maintain control I will most likely regress to diabetic numbers again.

So it's a low carb future for me.

I've been asked when I can go back to a 'normal' diet, even by my husband. To me now LCHF is a way of life. Just like a puppy isn't just for Christmas, the LCHF is my lifestyle choice. Although I will let myself have the very rare treat, especially at weddings, got one in Feb and another in March 2017 to look forward to! So plenty of time to work up to them :)

Well done on that HbA1c!

And you may find it interesting to check on that info for the Metformin and kidney info.
I have seen a lecture on you tube where the lecturer made a reference to 'and we ALL KNOW that Met is not to be prescribed for patients with kidney problems, don't we? But if you track that belief back to the original research, then Met is only contraindicated for severe renal problems...'
I will link to the video, but it is a long one, and that comment was a tiny part, but it may give you the ref to chase the actual data.

Re the cholesterol, how low carb are you? Lots of different perspectives on what constitutes low carb, and it is my understanding that Trigs are as much affected by carb intake (and alcohol, I think, but may be wrong) as they are by dietary fat intake. Not that I am suggesting that you bask in a constant glow of cream cakes chased by vodka! Just that maybe looking at fat in the diet is only a small part of the story. :)

I am taking Krill Oil in an effort to boost my HDL a bit.

Hope that helps!

Here is that vid:

With your figures Kevin you'll get under 42!

Great Hba1c and blood pressure John.
I wouldn't worry too much about your cholesterol and would ask to have it done again in a month, the results don't seem right for a low carber like yourself.
I would have a fast for 12 hours before its done.

Good work @JohnEGreen Liking the look of 39.
Glad to hear the DN is on board, that should help.
Nice BP.
Still trying to figure out my Lipids...
Wishing you well.

Very well done John, you should be rightly proud of yourself both for your fantastic results and for your realistic attitude regarding any future efforts that may be needed to keep yourself down there. :p

Great stuff @JohnEGreen

Keep plugging away and those numbers will only get better. Cholesterol totals will take time to settle.

Keep the Low Carb faith.
