Diabetics R Us

Morning all

Washing sorted and first cuppa drunk.

@Guzzler I hope your son recovers soon.

Not a lot planned today apart from cleaning the MH as we stayed in it over the holiday while Alan's sister & BIL had our room.

Have a good day.

H :)

I gave him two Ibuprofen and a heat pack. Later on he was laughing and joking while playing FIFA online.
I pity the lass he marries, he takes himself to bed like an Edwardian Lady with the vapours at the slightest thing.

Well I'm it seems going to get a nice birthday present from my gp's surgery in Feb as when I just for the hell of it you know tried to book a review yesterday was told oh it's annually now and set by your birthday so I have now got to go and have a blood test first thing on my birthday tuh.

I'm getting sick of it blood test last week another due end of Jan and now one booked for end of Feb it's like painting the firth of forth bridge never ending mind you they say they have got that cracked now.

You will have no blood left at this rate. ;) I know what you mean though. Sometimes it can seem the only appointments in your diary are medical ones.

Same here. 2017 was just one big round of hospital, clinics and Surgery appointments. This is partly why I think I reached saturation point in early 2018. I had had just about enough so that when I got a breast screening appointment and later an invitation for a poop scoop test I threw the letters straight into the bin. I know I need to go but if I'm having a bad day I can't go and if I'm having a good day... well, who wants to spend time at a medical when there are garden centres to be visited?

I do wish I could brush off this mood.

Plans for new years eve are made! On new years eve the Netherlands resemble a war zone because everyone is allowed to use fireworks that day. My little spot is one of the few places where nothing happens. Dogs usually hate fireworks. As I'm pretty tired of all the people-socializing during christmas, I decided to invite the dogs of a couple of friends for a sleep over and Chinese take away. So we're going to have a wonderful evening! Seven dogs (3 of my own) 2 cats and me. They all love Chinese food as much as I do and we can play the insulin-dose guessing game together :)
They're not very good at maths, but dosing for Chinese food is way more about luck than about science so that's not a problem!

My son is working until 10pm so New Year's Eve won't start until 10;30pm - if I can stay awake that late! TV will be rubbish, so I'll probably curl up in my quiet corner and read.

Sounds like me at the moment - my cancer nurse booked an urgent CT scan so needed a blood test for kidney function pre Xmas, saw GP on Thurs who decided to do another blood test and had scan yesterday which meant having a cannula so looking forward to a blood test free new year. It wouldn’t be so bad but I don’t give my blood easily - it normally takes 3 or more attempts

Morning all

Love the cat & dog stories.
We are waiting for our new washing machine to be delivered, they have just rung to say 20 minutes.

Alan had some bad news re blood tests yesterday. His liver function is not great and his HbA1c has gone up to 61 from 48 so he has to have another blood test at the end of January and if that's not good then a liver biopsy. He has also been told to sort the HbA1c out over the next 6 weeks (he hasn't been great with his food control!).

As for New Year's Eve, I don't think we'll see midnight, I struggle to get to 10pm these days

Have a good day

H :)

New Years Eve was always special for me because it is my birthday. The whole world celebrated it with me. But since the Millennium we have stayed home. Prices became outrageous in the restaurants and other venues, which had to be booked months in advance, and I daren't mention the price of taxis. The town centres and pubs are full of drunks. Even some taxi firms refuse to drive through the town. So nowadays we celebrate my birthday by going out for lunch with our small family to a pub that allows us to take the dog. Then it is home, drawbridge up, lovely meal in the evening and television. We do try to stay awake for the Big Ben fireworks, and watch some of the local ones through the window. None of the many dogs we have had over the years have been bothered by fireworks. In fact some of them, including our little Ness, like to watch through the window.

My sympathies it can be a real drag some times I'm having to have more blood tests mainly because my leukocytes are practically zero and so have had to stop taking Imuran my neurologist wants to check if levels coming back up toward normal I have one huge bruise on my arm since the blood was drawn.

I just heard that apart from the chinese food with pets I will be doing campfiry things (like drinking too much and burning your hands and getting all sooty) with my neighbour as well :)
I'll go there at around 10:30 so it will be low-impact socialising of the kind I still can handle after all the christmas hassle. Looking forward to all parts of my little party!
