My fathers name was Jan, and whithout a doubt he has been called Jantje (little Jan) when he was little, but he definitely wasn't a ladyThere was another lady with a similar name she was called Jantje de Vries born in 1870 in Scharl

Not really. Jan is a male name. In Dutch, especially in Friesland, the province where I live and where they have their own language, you can put "je" or "tje" behind a lot of names which makes them female but is also used to make things smaller. You don't hear Jantje very often for women but it does exist. Is "Jan" a male and a female name in the Netherlands as it is in the US?

Yes, work is good. I am lucky that I enjoy what I am doing (most days!). Getting a shiny new computer tomorrow.I hope work is going well. I'm glad I'm retired, feeling wonky this morning. Glad I can stay in but wish I felt like getting up and out.
