i posted recently about worrying that I had diabetes and that I had been for a blood test. My doctor actually said the words 'you don't have diabetes' from the results.

I recently had another blood test and have been asked to make an appt. Worrying again that it's diabetes would they not want to see me immediately rather than me having to make an appt when the next available one is in three days? Given that the condition is serious and needs medicine etc?

So if it was diabetes would the doctor ask to see me straightaway instead or?

Thank you

Why don't you ring the surgery and ask what the test was, and what the result was? Without that information, no-one can help you.

If your levels were high enough to warrant immediate action, you would have been called back immediately or sent to hospital, and you would be experiencing unpleasant symptoms. Try not to worry.

please try not to worry
like bluetit has said, if your gp was worried, he/she would have seen you straight away

Thanks for the replies.

I have an appt for Wednesday morn. Don't think results can be given over the phone. The blood test said it was a liver function test would this even show diabetes?

I had a fatty liver, so I had and still do have that test. This was before I was diagnosed T2. So it is a reminder that you need to have a look at your lifestyle. You have started the first step by coming on here.
It by itself wouldn't show that you had diabetes, but it is one of the tests that gives the doctors an inkling that the endocrine system isn't performing as usual. Ask your GP what he thinks is going on.

A liver function test wouldn't really be able to pin-point diabetes. There are many illnesses/conditions that can affect the liver to varying degrees. Don't worry.

I always have liver and kidney function tests (also bones and full blood counts) due to previously being on chemo and Herceptin for breast cancer as those drugs can play havoc long after you have finished being poisoned. I have perfect function in all of them, yet I have type 2 diabetes. A good result for liver function won't rule diabetes out, and a less good result might be an indicator in certain cases, which might prompt your doctor to give you another diabetes test.
I'm afraid you will have to be patient and wait for your appointment.
