Diet Doctor Low Carb Challenge

I always say never again - but he's Mr C 's friend from way back so I feel obliged to make the effort. It wouldn't be so bad if he didn't think he's a world class expert on anything he reads an article about.
Can I suggest you go on holiday when the snooker is on?

Been to church and shared lunch. Home now to a glass of red and reading work paperwork.

Need to check out ideas on DD to cook our hake and stir fry
I need to plan out a week of Diet Doctor meals. I wish they would get a move on with the meal planner. Been at soft play with the boys. Having 10 mins before going to get No 2 for swimming and school is back tomorrow.
Been struggling all day to get BG down. Must have been something in yesterday's food that sent me higher as I can't believe it was just the 2 forkfuls of pasta. Down to 7.1 currently but I was at 11.6.
Sticking to a simple roast chicken and celeriac chips tonight.

I have just ordered a whole week's worth of DD food - back to Week 1 of the Keto regime for Tesco delivery tomorrow.
Really looking forward to it.
I now know how to do every meal, and know we enjoy them. And I will be cutting the fat in a few places, and adding in plenty more veg.
Feel I really have the hang of this now.

I also checked with Mr B, and he enthusiastically confirmed that every single meal on the week's plan is one he wants to eat again. Brilliant, eh?

His waistline continues to shrink. I am guessing (he hasn't weighed) that he must have lost 10 pounds or so.

My husband has lost over 2st since I started low carbing and an inch off his belt size during the first two weeks of DD. The well man clinic nurse said he really doesn't need to lose any more as he is now perfect BMI and low BP. :(

Oh poor you *hug* did that 11.6 make you feel awful? I went up to 9. something on Saturday and felt fuzzy headed an like I could have just slept the day away.

I'm going to have a 'clean' week sticking to as low carb as I can get it. I enjoyed the DD recipes but they were often a bit too rich/fatty for me.

I have a fridge full of avocados, soured cream, salad, aubergines and cold roast chicken so they will be the basis of what I eat this week.

Oddly I didn't feel too bad. The only thing I shouldn't have had was the pasta but as I said I only had 2 forkfuls. However, I did have a Beck Blue (no alcohol ) and just noticed it's a bit carby so may have been that. Back at 6.5 now so whatever it was has left the building. Looking forward to my simple roast chicken. Going to try the celeriac chips in the air fryer tonight - told you I was developing an addiction.

I saw that you part-boil them - does that make a lot of difference to the finished chip?

There is something inherently unfair about the husbands losing the weight especially when they don't need to. My one has had to dig out his 34 in waists again - 2 inches gone of the waist!

Yes. Keeps them soft and fluffy inside but crisp outside. Very chip like. My addiction is the garlic salt.

Snap!

I'm planning to try the Indian crackslaw next.

However I'm working 3 out of the next 4 days so eating at work for two of them and we are having a couple of Tesco Finest meals that are low carb and were reduced to 5pm each on Saturday night!

Ah well back to normal. Bed on 7.3 FBG 7.9 and up to 8.3 pre breakfast and post school run. Just had No 1 to take to school this morning as No 2 doesn't return to pre school until tomorrow. No 1 was quite happy this morning - looking forward to seeing his friends again. Quite relaxed as No rushing trying to get the wee one to hurry. I do have the jaunt to Gym Monkeys later. Back at swimming yesterday and the wee one was the only one in his class that turned up so he had the undivided attention of 3 instructors. Was like a little fish swimming underwater from one to the other. His face was a picture.
Got a few hours now to hopefully plan out some Diet Doctor meals - anything to get away from Sky speculating what Teresa May's statement is going to be (Hubby reckons she's divorcing and marrying Trump as that's as likely as the rubbish coming out of the media)

@maglil55 Goodness you're doing a lot of rushing around. I love the idea of your little No 2 having three swimming instructors. :)

I had a 7.6 FBG today - which I'm quite convinced is all due to having eaten rather too many salted peanuts last night. Back on the wagon this morning with mackerel fillets - BG was 7.3 two hours after breakfast.

I quite like the idea of Theresa May divorcing and marrying Trump - better than the reality of a general election. I think it will get unpleasant locally - my MP is Ed Miliband who strongly supported remain in the Referendum but there was a huge majority vote in this constituency for Brexit. If TM makes it all about Brexit then I don't know how they will vote around here - it should get interesting. :)

Did anyone else find it vaguely offensive that some political pundits thought the announcement might be about TM's health - meaning her Type 1?

our delivery produced a substitution for black pepper cashews. the sub was a different type of black pepper cashews.

we both love them. we both eat too many of them, if there is an open packet in the cupboard.

Because of this, we hadn't actually ordered them.

so we got a sub for something that neither of us intended to order...
Mr B isn't 100% certain he didn't 'accidentally' click on the cashews in a moment of weakness, but claims he can't remember doing it.

and I am now obsessed with the thought of those delicious black pepper cashews languishing in the cupboard, crying out to be eaten - which is why we didn't intend to order them...

I am going round in circles. So I will stop and divert all my energy into NOT OPENING THE BAG.

And thats exactly the reason why I won't give Mr C the password to my Asda account....

He did have it once in the early years. Then I got very ill and he took over all household chores including ordering from Asda. When I got out of hospital we had a fridge and cupboard full of expensive nibbly bits - and no toilet roll. As soon as I was able I changed the password and haven't let him have it since. :)

Black pepper cashews sound lovely...... I'm not going to look to see if Asda stock them..... no I'm not...... I won't..... I must be strong....

I did :( thankfully they don't stock them. Phew....

Asda may not, but Tescos, Lidl's, Aldi's and Sainsburys do.

Just sayin'...

Arghhhhhhhhh!! And you called me a Temptress over the florentines!! Nuts really give me high FBG. I didn't see them in Lidl - not that I really look for nuts, I just steal Mr C's.

I love your reasoning for not ordering any more of these cashews.... much like my Mum's reason for not baking cakes or biscuits... 'because people only eat them'. And thats the reason why I was a size 8 up until leaving home. :)

Well looks like we'll be stuck with it now. I did think it was very offensive to suggest her health was suffering because she is diabetic. I thought she put her point very well and she was right she would have been facing a nightmare few years. It will certainly test the water up here on whether Joe Public want yet another vote on independence. At least it won't be a long campaign as all I want is stability.

I think its going to be hard to get all the various different issues sorted out but, as you say, some will hopefully be settled for good. I think TM saying she's calling it to bring government together about Brexit has put a different slant on this election - almost like a re-run of the Referendum.

Interesting that the Nats are not happy about it. Could be an interesting few weeks especially with the local council elections in May.

Cue Twilight Zone music...

I had breakfast at 8.15am and just have just realised I haven't eaten since and I don't feel hungry. Now my problem is that if I eat late i get a high FBG the following morning. Maybe it's because I haven't yet discovered what is actually in the plastic tub that's been defrosting for my dinner.
