has anyone taken magnesium supplements I'm taking Metaformin and Gliclazide my blood sugar has been really good until I started the supplements yesterday now it's registering High (for me)
My second question is when my blood sugar drops below 4.5 I start getting light headed do folk have slightly different trigger points? I usually have a fasting figure somewhere in the low 3s so am having a cup of hot chocolate at bedtime

With regard to your fasting levels, I would see your G.P. as you may need a lower dose of your diabetes medications.

As to the magnesium supplements, were they prescribed for you? If not, you need to get your magnesium levels checked as you may not need it. Too much can be a problem as can too little.
 
I was given a magnesium supplement by a naturopath. It is in powder form and I have it mixed with a drink. I know when I have had too much because it gives me diarrhoea. :rolleyes: I then stop taking it until I get cramps or an irregular heartbeat again. My naturopath did give me a test to see if I needed it first. I don't find that it affects my BG's at all.

Sorry I can't answer your other questions because My BG's are rarely below 4.5 and I have never felt light headed due to my BG's, only low blood pressure.

Ummm ... 'naturopath'? What did the naturopath prescribe for diabetes?
