Disgusting in this day and age

Just to say. I have travelled through Leeds Bradford in a number of occasions, and having seen this item on Look North am non pluses by what happened. How do you know you are not getting on the plane with all your stuff. We do carry on not in the hold so should know if it has been returned. I would certainly be aware if I didn’t have my mammoth kit bag with me. It did not say on the report 5hat the insulin had actually been confiscated. If mine had been confiscated I wouldn’t have got on the plane.

I believe that the bag containing the insulin was taken away 'to be checked' and when returned there were things removed - but no mention was made of their absence.
My daughter was taken to the security area of an airport having been selected for a security check - when she arrived at her destination a laptop with all the work - the reason for her travelling - was not with her. Fortunately the situation was recoverable, but it was not with out expense and effort.

I dont use insulin and have travellled with my metering kit through Gatwick without issue. However a few years ago I was chosen to be “frisked” because my underwired bra set off an alarm at security. I was separated from my belongings including handbag, passport etc and walked a long way to a quiet area where I was accompanied by two female security guards in a cubicle who ordered me to undress. I was absolutely terrified but something kicked in and I said I would remove only my outer garments and if that wasnt enough then I wanted legal representation. We all know what security at airports are dealing with now but this heavy handed approach is not the way. It must be a regular occurence for bra wires to react.

Horrified by the way the airport apologised for ‘inconvenience caused’. We all know that we don’t bother to use insulin to stay alive if it’s just not convenient.
Having said that, I’m always sceptical about stories that appear in the press. Journalists don’t always have the expert knowledge required to report accurately, and stories are often made more dramatic to attract readers.
