Hello, I am going to disney world soon with type1 diabetes and I am wondering if there is any way I can get hold of a carbs list for the food in the parks? To give me an idea roughly of what to expect when I go... any ideas?

WElcome to the forums @loril and I hope you enjoy your trip. Have you tried sending an enquiry to the relevant Disney World?

Hi,

I’ve never been to Disneyland.

If there are known franchises of restaraunt there?
You might get a carb count from the nutritional value from that particular food outlet online?
I somtimes have to “eyeball” like for like to a similar food outlet to get a ball park figure.
Sometimes there is a culture shock food that needs a reference to what I know… “oh this is like a pasty?” Oh, this is like my experience with a Taco?”

Sorry I may sound vaugue.
I used to tour in a band in foreign lands. & worked by the same rule of thumb when catered for.

Have a great time…

Far as I know, they can provide some details about their menu's, but that's more about allergens than carbs... It'll be a lot of guesstimation, but do e-mail them beforehand! Who knows what they might have in regards to nutritional information sheets.

Have you tried downloading the relevant Disney App? There might be nutritional info in the restaurant bit

I have but they like so many other places only list the calories instead, which as you know is a huge pain when carb counting

I eat low carb/keto and when we visited 3 years ago, did not find the food a problem. We stayed in Disney All Star music hotel (room only) which is probably fairly low budget but fine. The hotel eatery place was ok, had something for me to eat even if the choice was not massive. https://www.disneyworld.co.uk/dining/all-star-music-resort/intermission-food-court/menus/. There are also plenty of eateries on the parks, Epcot offers many international restaurants If you intend going off the parks to eat, I really enjoyed the Cheesecake factory a taxi ride away. Food was good and they do a couple of low carb cheesecakes. https://www.thecheesecakefactory.com/menu we just took an uber unfortunately I cant remember how much it cost. If you need a supermarket, we just travelled to Walmart I think there are cheaper ones but Walmart gave us the option to buy low carb bread. It was amazing just being able to walk into a store and buy a full low carb loaf. There is also an Aldi in the area. I think the thing you may have to watch is how much walking you will do. I lost 3 kgs in two week as I was averaging 17,000 steps a day.
