Do I push harder?

I am sitting here eating bacon mushroom cheeseburger casserole and it is to die for. I don't feel like ****. Maybe have a look at the low carb program on this site. It might be easier for you to sort it out if you have a guide to reference. Good luck.
@chalup - can I ask for the recipe, please, and where you got it from?

Lchf lifestyle needs you to pay more attention to what you are buying....

Have you got the determination to do this as a long term commitment? It isn't a short term fix....
Are you truly flexible enough to do this and to do it long term?

Do you understand carbs and that it isn't just avoiding sugar.. It is balancing your diet to eating more yogurt/nuts/meat/cream but you must avoid the bread/rice/pasta/cereal/potatos as a minimum initially.
A breakfast may be :
Bacon and eggs;
Greek yogurt / blueberries;
Scrambled egg (no toast) but perhaps avocado or courgette

Lunch:
Tin tuna/avocado/cucumber
Tinned fish with salad in lettuce leaves

Tea: meat with brocolli, runner beans
Chicken curry (homemade) with cauliflower rice.

Snack(s) : 7 almonds / 2 squaresof dark (above 70%) choc...

As a T1 I can say the only thing that put weight on me from a size 8 was being told be health professionals to eat bread and cereal...

To me, I would be wanting to minimise all the different tablets and chemicals and side wffects from endless meds to deal with your current situ and I would take what I see as the easier option of injections.. Eithsr basal/bolus or a mixed insulin... I would definitely in the interim chuck out old food in cupboards and just buy low carb options.....

You know your personality and commitment that you are able to make to your health. It isn't easy... But its down more to your personality, commitment etc than just choising an option....

Thanks @donnellysdogs - I do get this part of it. Which is why I've been looking to construct something that I see as a) start-able and b) maintainable (and very much in the long term). So in running it round and round my head, I've made it scary because I've convinced myself that I'll have to give up so much of what I love and try to sustain myself on stuff I won't. I know that's wrong, and it comes down to my personality (which you mention later on).

Yes - very much so. I've spent a lot of time over the last couple of years reading and trying to understand the effect of the various nutrients and I'm reasonably confident I understand the impact on my body of these things. It has just been a struggle up to now to get control of it all in the way I want.

Then actually, you are in a very good place!!
I think you may be self doubting yourself a bit from professionals that are not necessarily looking and giving you all round open thinking. Ie the mire different tablets etc you have the more side effects they can give. You could end up taking tablets because of side effects from other meds etc...

I think being told you will feel like "*****" is just to me going to make you more likely to be feeling like this and waiting for it... Unless you are like me and determined to prove people wrong.

We have good chicken curries.. Nice low carb with broccoli and coconut milk in them with fried courgette.. There are some fantastic recipes to try...

I personally think its not all lchf to think about though as you mention that you were accused of not being fit.. Can you also needing to improve exercising and fitness?

I think you can definitely choose lchf and make a success of it. You will get great support here.. You sound as if you have researched but knocked by health professionals a little.

I would just say this: medicine is in its infancy, pharma companies etc not been round that long and we are the real live furst generation of real people trialling these drugs etc. These drugs can make other organs in our bodies unwell....the more you have the more you are likely to need longterm.

Now-food... Again we are the first real genesation of having processed, **** foods..... But real, good food was around a long time before and kept humans ok. Working class people couldn't really avoid diseases due to coalmines, soot, plague etc... think of good natural food with liwer carbs and you will find benefits to overall health not just diabetes..

I have very limited eating due to non diabetic probs but I do ensure that I eat a balanced natural diet. I did have anaemia before because I can't eat meat but now I know this I can add spinach to smoothies and a lot more broccoli. Already my levels have raised...balnced good nutrition is vital to your whole body.....

Most on lchf wouldn't get anaemia but I can't eat meat due to other health probs..

Hi there. You sure can ask. It is a bit from looking at low carb recipes and a lot from what was in my head and fridge but here goes.

This fed 8 people with leftovers

1 kg bacon ends chopped up then fried with
2 onions chopped
bunch of mushrooms chopped
drain the grease (I didnt and it was too greasy but tasty)
put that mixture in a large pan or roaster and mix with
1 head cauliflower that has been riced (run through the food processor or grater.
fry up 1 kg ground beef, drain and add to above mixture in roaster
mix about a pound of grated cheddar, 500ml heavy cream, and 250gm creme freche in the same fry pan and cook over medium heat until the cheese is melted. I added a couple of pinches of xanthan gum

Pour the cheese sauce over the other stuff and bake in the oven at 300F for an hour. Let stand a half hour to cool off and firm up a bit.

It came out tasty, but as I said greasy. Put on noodles for those that do and on its own for us that do not eat noodles. It was also extremely filling. Even the picky grandkids liked it. Look on google for a site called ruling the keto diet, they have a lot of very yummy looking recipes with very good instructions.
