Doctors tests & kidney issues

Hi all,

This is my first post, hope its in the correct section.

I have not been diagnosed diabetic. I went to the Drs last week as i have a numbness / tingling sensation in my right thigh. He was unsure the reason, said possible type 2 diabetes, and sent me for blood tests.

The blood tests are now available to view online (technology eh!) but I cant see a test there that I would recognise as being for diabetes? What test would they use to show this?

Also, the only abnormal reading I have is a high potassium reading - which i believe is Kidney related?

It is the HbA1c - though on my online records its shows as 'Haemoglobin A1c level' (HbA1c is the shortened version of that that most people use).
Edit: xfieldok got there first

Thanks for the replies. It looks like they didnt even test for it then!
It's possible it's not come back yet then (mine normally takes about a week) or it may just be named differently, or yes of course they may not have done it.
Edit: if you let us know what tests they did do (don't need to include the results if you don't want to), we may be able to identify it.

To understand what hb1ac is take a look at this page

In fact, if you have a look around the diabetes.co.uk site, you will find lots and lots of useful information as well as the friendly forum crowd.

I recognize the TSH one - that is thyroid stimulating hormone - it is what the pituitary gland pumps out to try to make a failing thyroid work harder. Mine was about 4000 times the normal level when diagnosed as needing Thyroxine.

Often it takes longer for "none normal" results to show up then normal results, as some practice require a GP to review out of range results before they become visible. The GP who ordered a test can also request that a result goes back to them to review perennially rather then getting reviewed by the nurce.

Hence the none interesting result often show up quicker.

PS what does your liver function results look like?

Alternatively, @jamiesmack , these were my diagnostic tests (Yes, exactly 5 years ago today!)

My initial diagnosis was made from the Plasma fasting glucose level, then a few days later I had a wider panel done, including the HbA1c.
