Doctors..

I use Google regularly and for all manner of questions. Ignorance and ignorant have a different meaning in this context but, Hey, the knowledge I have garnered here far, far outweighs that which my GP or DN has the time to give me and is up to date which my HCPs arn't.

And by the way, I am a woman and would prefer that you not call me mate, if that is alright with you of course.

Well, if you think I need to make a distinction between sexes, I won't argue.
Can't agree, but I won't rock the boat if you need to be treated differently because you're a woman.
Each to their own I say.

There are also books. If you respect doctors, how about Dr Bernstein? IMO his book "Diabetes Solution" can teach us a lot more about diabetes than any GP.

Personally I don't mind at all being called "mate" or even "you guys", as happens regularly at my gym. However "mate" does make me think of Australia, and I do have a mild preference for NOT being called a "sheila". Jcbperson please note! (Just saying!)

Well, if he writes my prescriptions, or even knew anything vaguely about the fact I was alive, I'm sure he would be able to sort me out.
If your saying because I'm a diabetic, I should follow his book without question, because anything he writes must be good for any diabetic anywhere, I'd be looking in the mirror, wondering what happened to me to be honest.
That's just me though.

I'll say "Thanks mate"
I'll say "Mate watch me reverse back"
I won't really look to see if it's a bloke in a hi vis with a pony tail, I won't check if its a lass with a shaved head.
(Can I say 'lass'?)
From behind, (or even from the front) we're all, the same.

But I'm not going to worry too much about whether they're male or female, they're are doing the same job to me.

We shouldn't call all doctors idiots, simply because they are doing their best to keep us alive?
Even if not by googling our treatment

for me, this distinction is the generalisation of it all. 'A doctor is being an idiot' for a specific reason is different from saying 'Doctors are idiots'

He provides a nice history of the Forum. Interestingly, Arjun is yet another engineer who saw - and filled - a void in what was previously seen as the medical space:

Well, I reckon it's all down to perspective.
Maybe one day the doc will take my licence.
I'll be with you all then, and stand up with you saying what an idiot he is.
And how he's wrong to follow the guidelines.

But, I reckon you'll all be saying he's a good 'un, a JCB on a low loader, hitting you coming the other way wouldn't be what you want the doc to ignore.

I was aware that the majority of people who follow LCHF saw some weight loss but had no idea it was as high as nine out of ten. Thanks for posting.

BTW my nephew has CF and is on the list for a transplant.

I hope he gets it. The experience is different for everyone and it's scary to have to think about sometimes, but I can say it is fantastic.

No worries. My wife and I usually drive up the day before, it's a nightmare drive between the Gold coast and Brisbane any time of day these days.
 
It used to be simple ... 15 minute flight between OOL and BNE :( Not anymore, and hardly anywhere

Some enterprising person out here would make a killing servicing the two ports by aircraft operations ... if it wasn't for landing fees
