The doctor who teated my sister said the pain was being caused due to diabetes, he gave it a certain name but my sister cannot remember what he said. does anyone on here know or have an idea what the name of the cause of pain is. x starlight

I've never heard of pain after an operation being caused by diabetes. I had a tooth out before Christmas and a minor day-surgery op just after and had no unexpected pain.

Does your sister have trouble with nerve pain such as neuropathy, which is a diabetes side-effect and is the only thing I can think of that might be even vaguely related. It's sometimes in legs and feet. But if she has that, they should have been prepared to deal with it.

Sorry I can't help. I hope your sister's feeling better now. Maybe she should phone her usual diabetic nurse or GP and see if they have any comments.

There does seem to be a tendency for the medical profession to write off every symptom a diabetic has as being down to diabetes, lazy and short sighted is my appraisal of those who do this, my new GP is one of them too

Your sisters pain may be caused by her diabetes if she has suffered some nerve damage perhaps but she could also be in pain because she has had several teeth taken out :D

I would think all she can do is take pain killers for a few days till things settle down, is she able to take Ibuprfen being she suffers from COPD? As Ibuprofen helps to bring down swelling. I am not able to use it as I suffer from Asthma not sure about other lung problems though.

thank you for your replies, my sister is doing a lot better now she is takeing tramadol although she still has some mild pain she can cope with that. My sister cannot take iboprufen cos she also has chronic astmah ( sorry brain block on how to spell astmah), I too am type two diabetic and suffer from neuropothy in my legs and feet. I think that is what the doctors meant at the hospital when they explained the cause of my sisters pain.
