I was diagnosed in September 2015 and am diet only. Well, I had a blood test earlier in the week. I saw my Dr this afternoon for the results. My HbA1c was 44 when diagnosed and it's now lowered to 42. I know 44 isn't bad but it was my fasting BSG results that put me in the diabetic range.
I've changed my eating habits a lot. I now eat much more veg and foods that aren't processed so no ready or quick meals, pizza, cake, biscuits, white bread etc. I also attended an XPERT course at the beginning of the year which was fantastic and my hubby and I both learnt so much.
My blood pressure (which I do take medication for) is also now in the acceptable and required range for a diabetic. So, unless I have any problems or my blood pressure rises drastically I don't need to be seen until I reach my annual review in Sept/Oct time.
So pleased and proud of myself for sticking with my "diet" and resisting temptation, especially at work where there is often a cake fest most weeks!
