Coriander leaf, chillis, celery, sausages,
Um, I know the answer is probably "NO!" but I just thought I'd ask in case I'm wrong: is anything from a Dominoes okay to eat, do you think? From a type 2 diabetic point of view, I mean.

Pity, I hate wings. Like gnawing on a bone. sigh, I was hoping for chicken strippers, but never mind, I guess it's back to quorn....
Um girl in the supermarket seemed to think that gluten free was for diabetics - that's not so is it? Cos Dominoes do a gluten free pizza base, I just wondered.

its all about the carbs, so most of it wont be good likely........

its perfectly acceptable to try out some pizza etc to see how it goes though, so to rule out in the future....;)

Anything coated in bread crumbs or batter is dicey, any meat that contains a lot of cereal (such as ordinary sausages) is dicey. Pizza and pasta is usually out for type 2's (and beware the pizza effect whereby your peak after eating can be many hours later)
Gluten free is not carb free. The girl in the supermarket was wrong.
You can look at the nutrition information for Dominoes food here http://corporate.dominos.co.uk/nutritional-information?_ga=1.202067990.663161834.1457366881

ROFL! Yes of course. Um... might put a bit of a kink in the weight loss diet though, but I guess I'll have to wait until my test meter actually gets here to make it a valid test. :woot:

NOTHING sold by Dominoes will be healthy for anyone to eat.

You will likely never get control of your diabetes if you are looking for food choices from takeaway chains.

I do not have diabetes
I reckon the cardboard box would be ok as it is a lot of fibre - probably tastes just as good too ;)

You could always scrape off the cheese/tomato etc from the bread base and eat that. and leave the bread but then why bother

You can't even scrape the toppings off the base as the "cheese' isnt actually cheese as you would expect it,
As with many pre-grated cheeses they are often coated in high carb powders to stop it sticking, the gluten free pizza is dairy free so I will let you imagine just what the "cheese" is on that pizza.

There are alternatives though, such as using cauliflower as a base or a thin low carb crepe/pancake (made with nut flour) or using oopsie bread or an almond bread.
I have used all of the above, some work better than others. OR you could use a lidl high protein roll as a bread base for the pizza, or not low carb but lower than Dominos is to use an ordinary wrap or pitta bread as the base.

Obviously the portion size is key, so maybe serve a big salad with it and grate your own cheese :)

Coriander leaf, chillis, celery, sausages,
I was never that mad about pizza's as such, it's just less work than making something yourself, and it was a new shop, recently opened, and my husband adores pizzas so I knew he'd go there and then scoff things in front of me... but never mind.
My daughter made cauliflower gravy when we visited her recently - she also made a sunday roast, the meal was delicious, the gravy... well... let's just say it wasn't my favourite thing.
In fact it's put me off using cauliflower to replace anything at all.
So it's just green beans, leeks and cabbage.... sigh. I'm so bored.

That's a bit of a harsh assumption!! @FranOnTheEdge hasn't said "I want to eat Dominoes every day" or anything like it, for all you know it's about a one-off event, like someone's birthday treat they are invited to and wondering what they could order.

There is also no mention of how they treat their diabetes - anyone using insulin can balance the effects of a pizza (with a bit of practice) and control their diabetes just fine

eating food from Dominoes a healthy choice I will not argue with you.
I'm not saying it's a healthy choice - I'm just saying that it's possible to eat pizza and have controlled diabetes

Just to clarify: you are speaking as an insulin dependent T1, yes?

Yes, I did mention I was talking about those on insulin in my original post - I understand it's not that easy otherwise

Ah. I just wouldn't want the original poster, who is T2 and trying to control her condition with diet, to think that she was being encouraged to eat something that would, in essence, prevent her from actually being 'diet controlled'.

It's okay, no need to quarrel about it - I won't have any pizza.

That's you sorted then...;) I know how you feel...sometimes some convenience food is just so much easier 'job'....and I'm glad you asked before finding out that you don't feel quite right when your blood sugars go high.
Like already mentioned...those Lidl cobs are brilliant for making 'make do' pizzas. Toast the halves lightly...slap some butter/drizzle with olive oil , sprinkle of spices/herbs on and pile on your fillings and REAL cheese> quick blast in oven and job done....by now you are ready to eat and your hubby will be still waiting his order to arrive...:D
Or..(I know this is not pizza..but...)...you could make lovely omelette, put some 'pizza fillings' and cheese on and finish it off under grill....it will keep you hunger away for hours! 'now that I mentioned that...must add some ingredients into my shopping list...I feel like 'pizza omelette' is on menu soon..'
