Well pleased, I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes on 22nd July 2022 with a HBA1C of 110. I was prescribed to take Metformin 4 x 500g daily and to loose weight.
I joined this site and studied the forums and followed much of the advice on here. I went low carb virtually cutting out Bread, Pasta, Rice and Potatoes but ate plenty of meats, fats, cheeses, Cauliflower rice and salads and massive fibre intake, never felt hungry throughout. The weight fell off me and I lost 5.5 stones. I did cut out beer as I found that made my blood glucose shoot up but stayed with the dry ciders and Vodka and Whiskey when I do have a drink. These don't make my blood/glucose shoot up and if anything make them drop slightly.

Fairly quickly my HBAC1 fell to around 35/37 and since the summer, with the advice of the DBN and Doctor slowly reduced the Metformin until finally this week after my last HBAC1 test still showed mid 30's have now ended the Metformin on their advice and my wishes. ( Gave me severe constipation). Now on week one without Metformin and the constipation seems to be heading in the right direction.

I have my next HBAC1 test in about 2 months and if all good will revert to 6 month testings. Although I eat a lot more fat my Cholesterol is in the normal range.

I was a bread, rice, pasta and chip monster, have completely changed what I eat and only have these things as a very rare treat and much much less than I used to.

The advice on this site did it for me, not the advice on diet by the medical profession who still seem to advise the wrong food for type 2's in my opinion. I tell them every visit.

Thanks diabetes.co.uk and all those people posting their real experiences, certainly helped me.

Being told “Oh go on, one won’t hurt you!”.
Conversely, the food police.
Huge congratulations! That’s excellent news to read on such a cold, dreary morning - warmed my heart.

Your resume of your journey is extremely helpful.Thank you

Thanks for posting this. You've just given me inspiration to go low carb again as I've been struggling for a while and lost hope.

Litterbugs war mongers hate mongers propagandists.
I'm sure there's more.
Appointment with heart specialist today and he showed me this descending line on my HbA1c tests over the last two years.
He asked how without medication I had gone from 71 to 51.
I eat fairly normally spuds rice pasta but I drink evoo and I use acv I eat porridge daily I eat raw ginger chew cloves have ginger and clove tea twice a day I eat a clove of raw garlic I eat two dates in the morning two in the evening have nuts and berries twice daily have cardamom a couple of times a week with turmeric... religiously.
Bottle of whisky once a month.
I measure nothing I don't really time anything because I think that would not be natural in any natural daily food consumption I also have half a dozen lemons a week half a dozen eggs as little white flour as possible but have pizza now and then.
I'm seriously into adding all this stuff to my diet daily rather than remove stuff only problem but not a big one is my weight never seems to change.
17 STONE ALL THE TIME BUT AT SIX TWO i M NOT REALLY CONCERNED.
lIVER FUNCTION GREAT KIDNEYS GREAT HEART STRONG BUT aLT fIB.
oTHER THAN THAT i HAVE t2 diabetes which to be honest I hardly think about.
My nuts berries olive oil vinegar etc are more for blood pressure control which is giving me an average of 132/42 at the moment but the side effect seems to be great blood sugar control.
I'm very tired a lot of the time which is the next thing I have to research and work on.
