Found this on another site ... not really sure what to make of it?
I have educated myself now... You should not exercise in the am (wait 3 hours till after rising) The BG goes up because you have "wake up" chemicals in your body (adrenline, etc.) and the night or sleep chemicals have been cleared from your body. This is normal and for non diabetics is not a problem.
One of the chemicals that is removed is insulin and a nondiabetic will simply make more or dump out more from their store. A type 2 who is not taking insulin shots has the insulin wiped but is not able to put more insulin into the system quickly like a nondiabetic (or a type 1 taking shots)
Try to eat after you have been awake awhile (3 hours) and leave off the carbs for breakfast if possible. If you wait till the BG is low, then you eat, you are much better off. The high BG is cummulative and you don't want to eat when it is high. It takes 3 days to remove all the carbs from your system, so even if you had no carb that morning, you will still suffer from the carbs of other days because it is stored up in your system. Even veg is a carb by the way. I am now on a very low carb diet where I eat no starch or fruit (other than avocado) and my A1C dropped to 5.2 within 1 month. I also dropped weight like mad and am a more normal size now. The only carb I eat is in low carb veg such as cabbage, broccolli, lettuce, green beans, etc. and I only eat 6 carbs for breakfast (actually I usually skip my breakfast carbs anymore) and 12 for lunch and 12 for dinner making a total of 30 carbs a day. No bread, no potatoes or rice or anything with flour. I feel great and am doing so much better.
