Don't seem to be getting anywhere

First the good news - I've managed to lose 6 lbs in about three weeks. Happy with that :)

Not so good news - sugar levels are still all over the place. Not on any meds at the moment but am thinking I should be - which I'm not happy about.

I'm stressing a little about an upcoming holiday to Las Vegas. What will I be able to eat and still feel like I'm on holiday? We are staying in a condo so I will be able to cook (not that I want to - I am on holiday after all). Any ideas for me?

Just try to keep off carbs. No bread, no potatoes, no pasta, no pizza, no popcorn, no puds or ice-cream! No Coke.

Lots of steak, meat, seafood, cheese, vegetables, fruit. And ask - you might find that US restaurants are much more geared up to diabetic menus (let us know if they are!). Take your meter, and test.

Before you go - get on line, and google for US diabetic options. Try the American Diabetic Association website. Do a research project for all of us envying you your holiday. And have a good time!

Viv :)

In my expereince the Americans are a bit more clued-up on lower carb options. We have found no-sugar added ice-cream in Baskin Robbins, no-sugar dded cake in Pondersoa etc. These are almost unkown over here.

Below is the nutritional info for this ' no added sugar ice cream. As you can see there are still a lot of carbs, and salt in this product so will still raise Bg levels !! Always check the total carbs not just the sugars.
