Dosing question - basal or bolus...?

Hello.... so, I am on day ten of insulin - and I'm just wondering: overall I'm not having too many swings and my numbers are coming down - but two hours after a meal I'm in the 8's and 9's... three hours after and I'm back in the 6's; and by my next meal I'm usually in low 6's or 5's... is this likely that:

a) my digestion is slow...? I'm having low-ish carb, high-ish fat meals... so wonder if I'm just seeing the high point at the two hour mark? At the one hour point I'm usually lower than the two...
b) I need more fast acting with my meals...?
c) something else - possibly bolus - but I'm thinking not cos of the 5's & 6's I'm returning to by the next meal/in the night...

Grateful for your wisdom and insights! :)

If you're eating fats or fibre, the stomach empties slower which means the glucose is released into your bloodstream slower. Happens to me all the time.
For fatty foods I split my dose.

For those types I meal I would inject earlier, maybe 15-20mins prior to eating. This should help counteract the spike.

Edit just saw mo's and amberzck advice and this isn't to counter what sounds like good advice

I would do a lot of reading and learning but put every adjustment through your nurse for now. As has been said write down your carbs and insulin and show the nurse your I:C or ICR may be off
Do you have a workbook
There is an online course and download workbooks that will help with background info till you do your course

Ah.... fab advice and tips as always - thank you! :-)

... and @mo1905 I've read some people inject earlier and didn't understand why: this makes sense! Will give it a try... :-)

@Daibell & @DunePlodder - n'aww; it really made me smile to hear that you think I'm doing OK... it's all so new to me I've no benchmark - so I'm massively grateful for your words of encouragement, thank you :-)
