Anyone else watch his videos on youtube ? I find him very interesting to watch and find a lot of his information to be eye opening.

For anyone that hasn't been in any discussions with me, I have a lot of things going on with my body.

Before getting diagnosed with type 2 I had been dealing with a benign brain tumour called a prolactinoma that caused tons of issues with my hormones.

One condition that really got me down was called bier spots which doctors couldn't resolve as they had no idea what could be the cause and I had just learnt to live with it best I could.

Fast forward to just 2 years ago I got diagnosed with type 2 and went onto a low carb diet and this brought my bs levels back to normal and told me I was now in normal levels however they then mentioned that my liver enzymes had elevated and ldl... and I also then began to notice my bier spots were worsening along with spider veins popping up etc...

How could I be feeling much better but showing signs that things were not right when my diet is pretty nailed on ? There had been mentions of keto/low carb causing this and until today I didn't know which way to turn...

Then I found in one of his videos what i'm almost certain is the cause of this GM oils and specifically my Mayonnaise consumption... and possibly greek yogurt ?.

Would be really interested to find if anyone else dropped these and noticed a difference.

Hi there

No experience of bier spots, but both the items you mention can cause issues.

The seed oils in mayonnaise and other products can be very harmful, so it would definitely be worth dropping them and seeing what happens. I try to avoid them at all costs - they’re ‘hidden’ in most processed foods, so avoiding those is a good start. You could look at the Hunter Gather mayo as an alternative - it’s not cheap, but it’s tasty and doesn’t contain ‘nasties’.

On the Greek yoghurt, I also do better without dairy of any kind - less bloating, better BG numbers. That one’s harder and several attempts to ditch it have failed, but definitely worth a shot. Greek yoghurt is fermented too and fermented foods can cause histamine reactions in some people - another reason to try a spell without it.

Hope you get to the bottom of it.

Hi thanks for the reply, Had no idea just how much damage I could have been doing with my current diet.

Also noticed he mentioned to avoid Soy protein and realised my protein powder is soy isolate so on top of the bad oils in my mayo etc... my protein powder is packed full of the bad stuff.

Will really need to dial in the diet more, just curious what do you do now to satisfy your sweet tooth if at all ? mine is normally green yogurt and protein powder but may need to rethink this also.

Great question. I am desperately trying to get rid of all sweet stuff - the reason yoghurt keeps coming back is that it goes so well with raspberries and cream!

I know I’d be better off without, but my addiction keeps dragging me back. If it doesn’t trigger you, some v dark - 85% chocolate - might do it (it’s another of my triggers).

I like watching Eric Berg a lot too, and find him very personable and easy to follow and rather convincing. I was a little concerned when I discovered some years ago he is not a medical doctor but a chiropractor, so I don't believe he should in all honesty put the 'Dr' in front of his name, as it is easy to think he means M.D., when he youtubes about health and wellbeing. (I also don't think PhDs should use 'Dr' in this context also for the same reason, unless the PhD is in the subject they are lecturing about, online at least.)

This below was posted in February this year. I think calling him a 'scammer' goes way too far, and Eric Berg probably has his own side of the story re his professional disciplinary action and fine, but it does give food for thought -

The term “new normal “
Not fond of Berg, I do like Ben Bikman as he is more data driven. Dr. Sten Ekberg has some good stuff. Neither are M.D.

I watch the opposite points of view, like, Dr. Layne Norton (Ph.D. Nutritional Sciences). He’s annoying to watch but he critiques the above by reviewing the science.

It’s hard to separate opinion, data and make informed decisions

Dr Berg is the closest I have come across to giving good advice from his YouTube vids.
Close but that is because he has never e experienced the constant hypos. He did advocate keto, but s some of his inclusions, is by my experience not going to help with control.

I'm intolerant to dairy, but real Greek full fat yogurt is ok for me. But it has to be Greek and free of any other ingredients or manufacture.

Some of the hidden oils and sugars in modern food is not healthy for those who have an imbalance.in bloods after food.
