Hi. I'm 33 and up until recently, half a stone over weight. That half a stone has now disappeared but not in a good way. I was diagnosed with type 2 a month ago. It was a shock because I have a healthy diet and I'm currently drinking less alcohol than I have ever drank. Not even one bottle of wine a week most of the time. But type 2 is in the family and I have carried extra belly fat for most of my life so this is my reality and I'm trying hard to accept it.
The metformin tablets make me feel sick, pretty much all the time. I was put on 3 a day after a blood sugar reading of 135. It was down to 15.3 after a week. My appetite has basically disappeared although I do find it easier to eat during the day. My biggest problem is the dry mouth. I can handle it during the day but it wakes me up at least times during the night. I dream about it and talk with a lisp in my dreams.
I sleep with water next to the bed but it doesn't touch it. I went back to the doctors but that was a waste of time. I've started munching on cherry tomatoes during the night instead because that seems to offer a little extra relief but not much. The lack of sleep combined with a loss of appetite means I am looking worn, rough and I don't have the energy to play squash, cycle or swim. All the things I usually do. Could anyone offer any suggestions please?
