Hi

Has anybody had Dupuytren's contracture?

I had a lump in centre of my palm so had it checked and the doctor said it is Dupuytren's contracture. This is when one or more fingers bend in towards your palm.

I have been referred to the Musculoskeletal service.

Many thanks

Not personally but there are a few threads about it here

Hi Alan6240

i have Dupuytrens in both hands. I has been there for many years, long before I was diagnosed with Type 1. Mine has been slow in developing I had
needle fasciotomy in one hand and injections in the other one. The treatments have had some effect.

Hope you get some help from Musculoskeletal Sevices

Thanks. There is nothing wrong atm but obviously as time goes by I will need treatment. So I have been referred and have to contact them next to book an appt.

I believe that it is something associated with a Viking ancestry.
My father had it and my brother was seeing signs of it when last we spoke. I have the temper and a few red hairs now turned grey, but seem to have dodged the contracture problem.

I was cleaning the carpets of an ex SAS soldier a few years ago, he'd had the same problem just operated on, having had the other hand done before, whilst back from the gulf when all the security operatives had to pull out for a while. his name was Hannigan, and thought of Irish ancestry. The consultant told him, i suspect it should be Hannagen and Nordic ancestry.

I have dupuytren’s contracture in both hands, as has my brother.
The bumps were staring to get painful. About 10-12 years ago I had radio therapy on them. This treatment wasn’t common in the uk, but it was in Germany.
It stopped the growth, and pain.
I believe there are other treatments now, for instance they can inject into the ligaments, sounds painful.

I have an indentation on one finger that appears to be early stage. Did have some pain, but it went away. I may post a photo and see what you all think. I haven’t seen a hand specialist yet. I figured I’d wait until I have symptoms. I’m not sure what else it could be.
